I work from the premise that no two voices are the same and I tailor lessons to suit my students. We will work on technique, repertoire, interpretation and, where appropriate, language skills. Together, we can work on building a healthy voice and compiling a book of repertoire to help you prepare for exams or recitals. The aim of a lesson is to achieve vocal freedom, which will allow the student to approach repertoire healthily and confidently without fear of the voice giving out. Ofcourse there is a lot of technique that goes into it which we will focus on aswell, but in todays popular music the listener is looking for an emotion and a voice they can relate to. It can’t be too perfect and classical in the commercial scene today, that removes all the rawness and emotion that the listener is looking for, in my oppinion. I want to offer my potential students a safe place where they can belt their heart out or be vulnerable in their headvoice without judgement. I know I lacked this when i was growing up into this industry, and I would love to give the confidence of not caring too much and to teach how to be brave enough to sing with 100% emotion. Also, we do music appreciation occasionally during the session. Some other learning materials like music videos are applied based on song choices.
