I'm a graduate of Berklee College of Music where I studied piano performance, songwriting, and music business. Over my 10 years of teaching experience both privately and through NYC music schools, I have developed a variety of effective and individualized teaching tools that I continually refine. My students range in age from 5-70 years and sing music in a variety of styles including classical, musical theater, pop, and more. I speak with with my students before our first lesson to understand their background, goals, and answer any questions before we begin. For the first lesson, I always ask you bring something you like to sing and then as we progress we decide what repertoire makes the most sense. I start by explaining how the voice works: our body as our instrument. I then introduce individualized technique exercises to fit the student's need. Our work will include breath, resonance, vocal fold closure, vowels, range, and much more. I have a Master of Music in classical vocal performance from the Mannes School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan. I have studied dance, piano, and Alexander Technique in addition to vocal pedagogy.
