I'm an experienced clarinettist and teacher with a first-class honours degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where I won the college's concerto and chamber music competitions. Isaac :) About Isaac: Originally from a small village in Northamptonshire, Isaac is a Clarinettist currently based in London. He made his solo debut in St. David’s Hall, Cardiff performing Mozart’s Concerto For Basset Clarinet, after winning the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Concerto Competition 2021. In the past year, Isaac has received Masterclasses from world-leading musicians such as Yehuda Gilad, Laura Ruiz Ferreres, Matthew Hunt, Carlos Ferriera and Harri Mäki. His recent festival highlights include performances with Maya Iwabuchi and Robin Green at the Hellensmusic Festival, taking part in Amsterdam and Främnas Masterclasses with Arno Piters and Herman Stefansson respectively, and the Voksenåsen Sommerakademi with Bjorn Nyman and Andreas Sundén. In 2020, Isaac was invited to take part in the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Lübeck, which was unfortunately postponed due to the pandemic. Isaac has performed recently as guest principal, sub-principal and bass clarinet with London Mozart Players, Neville Holt Opera, English Symphony Orchestra, London Firebird Orchestra and UK Tours with The Music Agency. He has performed in concerts and masterclasses under the conductors such as Sir Andrew Davis, Maxim Vengerov, Hannu Lintu, Jac van Steen, George Jackson and Leif Segerstam. Isaac graduated first-class honours from RWCMD in 2021 under the tutelage of the previous and current heads of woodwind Nick Carpenter and Rob Plane, respectively. Alongside winning the college Concerto Competition, Isaac also won the RWCMD Woodwind + Chamber Music Prize and auditions for side-by-side schemes with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Welsh National Opera. Also a passionate arranger, Isaac has recently had his work performed at Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) Young Creatives Projects, Durham University Big Band Charity Events, Dynamica Brass Academy, RWCMD Repertory by Entrepreneurial Performers Company (REPCo) and the Ormonde Ensemble, a wind quintet of which Isaac is a member. Isaac is currently furthering his studies with a Masters in Performance at the Royal College of Music, London, studying with Barnaby Robson, Richard Hosford and Tim Lines. He is the gracious recipient of scholarships from the HR Taylor Charitable Trust and Charlotte Fraser Foundation. He is also the 2022/23 holder of the Countess of Munster Trust Neil Black Award. Isaac is extremely grateful for their support as without it, his studies would not be possible.

I have a real passion for music and that's why I would love to help inspire and guide new musicians on their quest to learn the violin. Age is irrelevant when it comes to my lessons but the most important thing is that the student comes with a real incentive to learn. Everyone's musical journey is different and many people decide to learn an instrument for a different reason. Therefore, the regular structure for a lesson would very much differ from person to person. For example, beginners would mostly focus on sight-reading, proper form and technique. However, someone with a slight musical background could begin by learning pieces that they want to play and I would guide them with how to encompass the piece better and make slight adjustments to their technique along the way. When it comes to young children, I've worked in nursery and primary schools with ages from 3-7. The most important thing is that they have fun during the lessons and gain a real respect for music early on. Technique, theory and sight-reading are still incredibly important but what's most important is that the child is having an enjoyable time while learning. I have a strong musical background as I've been playing violin and piano for 14 years, I also have a great understanding of music theory. I've performed in multiple concerts of sizes of up to 5000 attendees. I was also established enough to have achieved a full music scholarship to a performing arts secondary school and college. At GCSE I achieved an A* in music and I would be more than happy to help GCSE music students with their music theory and/or composition piece.
