I offer lessons at my home facility in Watford/Harrow (London Zone 7), I can come to you (extra travel fees apply for those outside of London zones) and I also provide Skype lessons.

I have taught preparation for Grade exams in both the Trinity and ABRSM syllabuses, with 100% pass rate for my students. I enjoy finding ways to teach piano-playing techniques and music theory in an accessible way. My methodology usually involves the use of improvisational techniques to get confident with scales and arpeggios, and to understand music theory better. I encourage my students to listen further to music related to what we're playing, and enjoy guiding them in what to listen to next. As a performer myself, I understand the importance of feeling relaxed and confident with what you're playing.

For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session.
