Main focus applied to overcome the problem of piano: mastering two-handed rhythm. To achieve this, I teach left-hand grooves and foundations while working on improvisation, harmony, melodies, accompaniments, and everything there is to play with the right hand. I introduce piano techniques such as walking bass, tenths, stride, drop 2, and more. From my experience, rhythm, "Groove", and the connection with the music in the moment it is being played are the most challenging aspects to learn and integrate. Thus, I give significant emphasis to these topics in my sessions, especially those aimed at playing polyrhythmic instruments such as the piano. I cover compositional tools, approaching Jazz Standards, accompaniment techniques, improvisation methods for any instrument, Blues tools, methods to strengthen the relationship with the instrument, analysis, and listening skills. I also teach classical piano for those interested, and offer specific training in rhythm and percussion. I am fully committed to my students. I've been having singing classes with Kat for almost 6 months. I'm enjoying so much going to class with her once a week ! My goal is to get to know my voice, have fun, understand how it all works ; and Kat is amazing for adapting her exercices to your level ! She is supporting me in my comfort zone and also challenging me enough to evolve a bit more each time we meet. She is gifted with patience and humour, I can tell. You'll always get the meaning of the exercice she's asking you to do, which helps having an overview of what's happening in class. Thanks again Kat for all those breathing breaks in my week ! :)
