Before we begin lessons, students submit a short writing sample so I can assess which skill area we should target first. Writing coaching is where I show and guide my students how to better their writing using different techniques. Like in any sport or the arts, evaluation and constructive criticism are another important aspect of their writing growth. They get feedback and advice specific to the assignments and projects they are working on, and practice outside of lessons is necessary if they want to see regular improvement and make progress. We also work on writing mechanics, which includes English grammar rules. This helps them become stronger writers and speakers, aware of common mistakes and how to avoid them. You want your child to practice grammar skills with a native speaker who has studied English for decades and knows the rules inside out. Every person in the world has the potential to be a confident, eloquent writer. All it takes is one step — or sentence — forward in the right direction. I want to start off by saying a huge thank you to Sacha! I am a Master student who needed academic support for a statistics course in February and although I have always lacked confidence in math, Sacha made me feel as if i had the foundation and ability to not only pass the course but also succeed in writing the results section of my Thesis paper. She was always very flexible in her availability, and was able to meet several times per week, which for me, was very beneficial. Other than that, Sacha was approachable, friendly and a great tutor.
