IB Tutor - Math AA, Chemistry, Global Politics, English A, Spanish A

I grew up in-between Mexico and the Netherlands and completed a bilingual education in English and Spanish. I passed my GCSE examinations after Grade 10 and attained a final score of 42/45 points in the IB in 2021. After graduating from a United World College, I move to The Hague to study at Leiden University, where I obtained a BA in International Law (summa cum laude).

I started tutoring at 14, but only began doing it regularly four years later at the IB level. My professional experience has also included college-level student assistantships. My approach to learning is influenced by my own diverse background. I have studied under different systems in the Mexico, the Netherlands and France, which allowed me to experiment with various learning methods and discover what works and what doesn't. When it comes to the IB, I especially understand how to structure written assignments (including IAs, TOK essay and the EE) and have several tips to achieve the highest results.

I strongly believe that each student has a unique way of learning, and my objective is to discover what works best for you. Together, we can make the most of our time and make the learning process enjoyable and effective.

Extra information

I prefer when students inform me in advance of the topics they are studying and the specific areas in which they need improvement. This way, I can prepare appropriate materials for our tutoring sessions and make the most of our time. However, I also understand that students can sometimes feel overwhelmed by the amount of work and unsure of where to start. Together, we can figure out your strengths and weaknesses and tailor a study plan to enhance your learning.

About Me

Hi, my name is Giovanni and I am a recent graduate from Leiden University, where I obtained a BA in International Law (summa cum laude) and specialised in human rights, politics and economics. I am originally Mexican, but I moved to the Netherlands in 2019, and I have been an IB Tutor for over 5 years. Tutoring is something I really enjoy, and as a former IB student, happy whenever I get the chance to help others navigate the system and unlock their potential.

Education

Leiden University College - BA in Liberal Arts & Sciences: International Law (summa cum laude)
United World College Maastricht - IB Diploma Program (42/45 points)
The Lancaster School - GSCE Program

Experience / Qualifications

I have been tutoring since I was 14. At first, Maths and English and Spanish to kids in the Mexican school system and then for the GCSE and IB programs. I have tutored IB students in Global Politics, Maths, English, Spanish, and Chemistry and GCSE students in Maths and English. Furthermore, I did a college-level tutor as a student assistant while completing my bachelor's degree.

Reviews (1)

We have been impressed with Giovanni's knowledge, dedication and patience he brings to his tutorship lessons. He tutored our son in preparation for GCSE Higher Grade Maths exams. He worked at a pace that was comfortable and suitable, explaining the problems and providing past GCSE exam papers as test exercises, building confidence in the subject. We would definitely make use of his lessons again.

GCSE and below Science and Maths lessons (year 7-11) for British education system
Hi I am 20 years old and am currently a student at Leiden University doing a bachelor of sciences in environmental sustainability. I completed my A levels in Maths, Physics and Biology with grades A in Maths and Biology. I also did an AS level in Chemistry from the British School in the Netherlands. I love science and got all grade 9s in my science GCSEs and a grade 8 in Maths. I have some prior tutoring experiences as well so I hope I will be able to use it all to help you get your target grades for any exam. I am able to provide lessons in any science or Maths topics that are at GCSE level or below! I can also help with any subject such as Geography, Food Technology and English or Drama

Mathematics Tutoring for children - exams, better comprehension of topics at school, expansion of knowledge beyond what is required
I have taken Mathematics classes in primary, middle, and high school in Poland. When studying abroad in the USA I also took a Precalculus class. Studying, now, at Leiden University College I have also completed a Statistics course. I have learned a variety of topics in mathematics, whether it would be fractions, basic multiplications, divisions, graphs, quadratic equations, and many more. During my final year of high school, taking the International Baccalaureate Program and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Standard Level, I received a 6 on the final exam. I would be able to tutor in preparation for exams, school work, basic comprehension, or better understanding of topics, or if one wants to expand their knowledge beyond what is required at school. Even though Mathematics can be logical and intuitive, at times it is also very complex and requires a lot of training to comprehend it. I believe teaching through practice is the best way to learn. Repetition is key to learning effectively, this way we may memorize the acquired knowledge for longer and successfully become more comfortable in mathematics. I would also like to add that I lived in New Zealand for 6 years, and I am fluent in English. Please reach out if any further information is needed.

Maths and Science Lessons from a young, enthusiastic and expereinced tutor!
I am a 23-year-old Maths Graduate from Wales who has recently moved to The Hague. I have been tutoring and teaching in various forms over the last 3 years and I have over 500 hours of experience. I am a professional rugby player and I work as a tutor around this as I love working with children and keeping my mind active. I offer tuition in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics for ages between 11 and 18. My goal is to teach students how to approach difficult Maths and Science problems in a methodical way, rather than simply instructing them to memorise formulas. Understanding problems is a much more effective way of learning. I possess an extensive collection of learning materials suitable for all skill levels, making lessons engaging and enjoyable. As a young and active tutor, I can connect exceptionally well with students, helping them to find enjoyment in their studies, which ultimately leads to better outcomes.

Physics and Mathematics: Think like a professional!
I specialize in teaching physics to students of any level and also to candidates of Olympiad of physics. I give detailed and precise description of subjects in a way that student understands the meaning and origin of the field. My goal is to change the viewpoint of students in physics and encourage them to look deeper, more precise and more outside the box!

Vishwa
Physics / Science / Mathematics tutor - IGCSE / IB MYP and DP
I am an interactive teacher of 5 years experience. My way of teaching is friendly and open, but clear and direct. I use lots of materials and interactive simulations and conceptual learning where possible. My abilities in education are incredibly strong and getting better every time I tutor. Given the previous situation with Covid. Online teaching has become second nature and I am happy to help your learn online as well. Teaching methodology: In order to teach a student effectively, it cannot simply be a matter of taking notes or going over the same material again and again. Students need time to connect concepts by approaching subjects from many angles. It takes practice and skill to make learning in a classroom interesting. I have been developing those skills over many years and continue to try and do so as I teach and learn myself!

Private online mathematics lessons - Qualified and experienced teacher
I am a qualified and experienced mathematics tutor. Graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 2011, I started my career by teaching remedial courses in different schools in Brussels. I then specialized in individual academic support by following educational training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have been giving private mathematics lessons daily for over ten years. The students who follow my private lessons benefit from personalized support. The first session is devoted to an in-depth assessment of the student's mathematical knowledge. The objective is to detect its weak points and understand their origin in order to adapt my courses to its needs. I develop a tailor-made remediation program for each of my students aimed at filling each of their gaps. Over the course of the sessions, the student builds a solid foundation for learning and regains self-confidence. At the same time, I help him acquire a work methodology that allows him to gradually become autonomous in his studies. I have a perfect knowledge of the mathematics program of the College and the High School (from the Sixth to the Terminale). During my formative years, I studied and developed many techniques that make it easier to learn math. The strength of my pedagogical approach lies in my ability to explain in a simple way everything that the student finds complicated. I am passionate about this job because it gives me the opportunity to guide dropout students on the path to success. It is a real pleasure to see them evolve and come to terms with the fantastic world of mathematics. I provide my private lessons in Limoges (at the student's home) or remotely (online via the internet). My distance learning courses take place on an interactive online whiteboard. This board is specially designed to promote student/teacher interaction on the internet. Thanks to this educational tool, my online courses are as effective as home courses. The student only needs an internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone to take advantage of it.
