1 voice (music) teacher in Hungerford

Allow me to introduce myself my name is Ella and I am a London-based soprano and theory teacher, with a teaching studio in Hampshire/West Sussex too. I have been teaching singing for 7 years now, with ages ranging from 7-70; I find it a complete joy and I love seeing students working to better themselves while being excited by music, vocal technique, and improvement. I am a classically trained operatic Soprano with three years of training in a Masters of Performance degree in Vocal and Opera Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I then went on to study at the prestigious and world-renowned Guildhall School Opera Course. I believe in a holistic approach to singing, addressing the whole body, and maintaining a healthy vocal development whilst having a great deal of fun exploring repertoire. I first studied theory myself at Ditcham Park School, where I was a pupil and music scholar, from 2001-2006. I have continued to study and enjoy it ever since! I was Deputy Head Girl when I reached form 5 and from there, went on to study Music at Godalming College, heading the chamber choir among other small ensembles. I then proceeded to undertake a BMus (Hons) Music Degree at Royal Holloway, where I obtained a 2:1, graduating in July 2013. In my two gap years, I worked in the music department at Dunhurst and Bedales School, teaching everything from singing to the recorder, classroom music, and theory to 8-18-year-olds. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and found it incredibly rewarding, helping a large number of children with different needs and abilities. Particularly gratifying were those who were struggling, especially when they wound up achieving scholarships, high GCSE and A level grade as well as other musical achievements. Music theory is a crucial skill for many reasons, which I`m sure you’re familiar with. In music, unlike other fields, there is no difference between theory and practice. It heightens a pupil’s ability to write, perform and detect errors in music, improve critical reasoning skills and it expands options as a musician and performer as well as developing excellent scholarship. It has been proven incredibly advantageous when run alongside GCSE and A level music, of which I am very familiar with the syllabuses. From my other teaching experience, I have found it beneficial to the other instrumentalist peripatetics who can’t afford to use the time teaching theory when the pupil needs practical instrumental tuition.

The lessons use contemporary, well researched and developed methods in a relaxed and friendly environment for you to free and find your voice, develop your skills and abilities to sing what you want and how you want and grow confidence in your singing and yourself! I have spent over 15 years refining and implementing vocal techniques, studying and teaching many different methods and approaches, to find the tools and strategies that can offer my students the most effective development in their singing in every lesson. Apart from studying a variety of different singing approaches, I have also invested myself in learning body methods, including 2 years of Alexander Teacher Training and 2 semesters of Feldenkrais Method Teacher Training. I experienced both these methods giving breakthroughs in progress that years of vocal exercises could not achieve! The programme is always adapted to your needs as each person is at a different place in their journey with a unique body and mind. We strategically use a combination of singing exercises and working with the body, chosen on the basis of what your voice is doing at that moment. We then apply for this work directly to songs of your choice. Whilst voice training, like any other training, takes time and commitment, there are also tools that you can use to give you immediate results and breakthroughs! If you are a beginner, training in this way will make the journey easier and faster. If you have trained previously and find you are stuck and cannot progress past certain limits, there are certainly breakthrough and game-changing strategies that you can learn to do what you might have thought impossible. I continue to educate myself to be able to help you better! Last year I completed Level 1 of Somatic Voicework, The Lovetri Method and "The Vocal Athlete's Guide to Vocal Wellness and Fitness" at The Contemporary Commercial Institute Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoa Conservatory, taught by Marci Rosenberg Both these trainings were taught by very respected and experienced voice specialists and have deepened my understanding of the voice and improved my teaching.

I have been dealing with the subject of voice and language for over fifteen years. What is voice actually? An organ? Stim bands? Vocal folds? Approach spaces? And what's up with the diaphragm? For me the voice is much more: it is an interplay of body, breath and “mood”. She is the mirror of the soul. It is the organ with which I can best express myself. During my vocal studies at the Detmold University of Music, I learned the most important parameters of voice training. Here I also received speech, body and acting training. Fascinated by the variety of expressions in acting, I went on to study acting in Salzburg. Here I deepened my knowledge of the art of speaking and gained my first experience in speaking using the microphone. At the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy, I later specialized in speaking and singing in the recording studio. Almost every day I stood in front of the microphone as a speaker or singer and realized songs, audio books and dubbing parts. ____________________________________________________________________________ In my 1: 1 online voice training you will learn ✔ a natural and healthy use of your voice. ✔ a clear and present vocal sound. ✔ a clear and distinct articulation. ✔ Speak without exertion / serenity when speaking. ✔ Understanding the relationship between breath, voice and body ✔ body-conscious speaking - the use of the entire resonance body. ✔ speaking in large rooms speaking on the microphone. ✔ an expressive use of your voice and language ✔ a lively way of speaking and a convincing, authentic style of speech (rhetoric) ✔ the basic understanding of voice physiology ✔ to recognize and change established patterns ✔ an individual training plan ____________________________________________________________________________ My methodology As a speech trainer and singing teacher, I am in daily contact with topics such as voice training, literature development and interpretation. Professionally, I am increasingly concerned with functional voice training and the "experience of breath according to Ilse Middendorf". I always orient myself to the natural voice. The healthy and natural handling of the voice, the breath and the body is important to me. I will give you suitable voice, breathing, articulation and physical exercises that are specially tailored to you and your voice. In addition to speaking training, these should be helpful for your work as a podcast host. We also work on texts and use practical exercises to prepare you for your vocal and linguistic challenges. ____________________________________________________________________________ From the comfort of your home ✔ A good microphone ✔ A PC / laptop with a webcam ✔ A sufficient internet connection
