The main aim of these lessons is to help singers from a wide range of prior experience and ability to further their passion for singing. I am a recent MA Musical Theatre graduate from the Royal Academy of Music and have a wealth of performance experience in the genre. I am also classically trained and have achieved distinctions in classical voice grades as well as a BA (hons) Music degree from the University of Oxford where I achieved the cohort's highest grade for my performance recital in 2022. I have experience performing in operatic productions, another genre which keen students can gain tuition.

Im a classically trained singer (Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London 2005 MMus BMus (Hons). I have extensive performing experience as a soloist and with various ensembles in opera, oratorio, musical theatre, jazz and pop. I’ve sung for numerous celebrities as well as royalty both in the UK and abroad. From 2016-2021 I taught singing in the Royal Palace in Muscat for the Sultan of Oman. I have 20+ years teaching experience covering all age groups but mostly focused on children and young adults. I teach absolute beginners through to professionals. I regularly enter students for ABRSM examinations with a 100% pass rate. I have a holistic approach to teaching and offer a supportive atmosphere for learning and enjoying music making. Vocalists are needed everywhere and it is important to learn how to control your voice and view it as an instrument. With my lessons you will be taught in a fun and educational way with lessons tailored to each students preference and abilities. They would include teaching techniques and helping to build a strong foundation of knowledge with how specific techniques work through warm ups and song choices by myself and the student. Vocal classes also include working towards grades, specifically Rockschool and learning the theoretical side of music.

Singing Ethos: My belief is that everyone can learn to sing when taught properly and holistically and can experience the joy of discovering the unique qualities of their individual voice. This is a joy which I share with my students and why I find teaching so rewarding. My experience is predominantly (but not exclusively) with children and I love to watch as their love for their voice grows. What you can expect: I believe it is important to teach with an emphasis on technique and vocal health, so from the first few lessons students learn about the body and the way the voice works. I address this through exercises and breathing techniques as well as songs appropriate to age and stage; (usually based around the appropriate ABRSM Grades). I strive to create a fun, nurturing environment where learning and confidence can be optimised. I currently study with Sophie Grimmer, a highly respected and accomplished vocal teacher based in London who has performed at venues across Europe and London such as ENO. Therefore everything I teach my own students is informed by the world class tuition I am lucky enough to receive, (but of course adjusted so that it is age appropriate). This ensures that the tuition I give is always current and reflects the ever evolving industry standards for vocal tuition. I look forward to hearing from you! In the singing lesson we look at breathing, vocal technique, language, expression and interpretation. I take much pleasure in watching a student grow and facilitating their development and helping them on their own path. The most important thing to me is that they enjoy using their voice and telling a story through music. I have recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a Master of Music degree with distinction. Through the developing of my private practice, I am becoming increasingly interested and deeply passionate about teaching singing and singing pedagogy. For me, music – and especially singing – is all about communication, between performer and audience, between composer and performer/audience, between teacher and student; it is about conveying a story and human emotions that people can relate to and that give us a sense of connection and belonging. This requires not only a deep understanding of technical skills, but also a sensitivity to the text and the way it is set into music, both melodically and harmonically.

I teach a solid classical based technique which can then be applied to multiple genres of music. As an accomplished pianist I will accompany you at the piano as you sing your chosen songs. (For online lessons I will find suitable backing tracks.) In your piano lessons, for beginners - I will determine the appropriate starting materials based on your age, innate ability, and level of understanding. For those who have already been learning and are looking to resume their studies, I will facilitate a seamless and supportive transition. I will work closely with you to gain a thorough understanding of your needs and ensure the most effective path forward. If you are interested in having both singing and piano lessons, you can have an hour lesson comprising of half singing and half piano. I have over 10 years of experience in preparing students for exam grades, and work with the ABRSM syllabus and the Trinity syllabus.
