    About Me

    Hello there ☺️👩🏻‍🏫

My name is Dina. I hold a MS in Resource Economics (GPA: 3.96), a BA in Economics and Statistics (GPA: 4.0) from two universities in the United States. I am currently working as a full-time teacher of Economics and Statistics as well as a TOEFL/SAT tutor in a private education center.

Apart from teaching, I love reading fiction and listening to music of any kind. I play the piano on my spare time and go out running to release any negative energy.

During my leisure time, I also like to watch crime documentaries while laying in bed with my beloved cat 🐈

    Education

I hold a Master of Science in Resource Economics and Policy as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Arts and Sciences with Concentrations in Economics, Management, and Statistics.

    Experience / Qualifications

I have started my teaching experience first working as a Math tutor for my university during my undergraduate studies in US. While pursuing my graduate studies, I also worked as a tutor for different economics subjects. For the past four years, I have been teaching high school economics and statistics. Here is a brief outline of my skills/jobs throughout the years:

✔️📊Tutored Economics and Statistics to undergraduate students
✔️👩🏻‍💻Tutored Labor Economics to undergraduate students
✔️💸Teacher of Economics and Statistics to high school students
✔️📖Teacher of TOEFL/GRE/SAT/IELTS courses to high schoolers and undergraduates
✔️📝College counselor to high school seniors, offering help in a) CV/resume writing, b) College Essay/Personal Statement writing, c) College and career interest identifications
TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language and is one of the most required tests for international upper education admission. A high TOEFL score not only improves your chances of getting admitted to the university of your dreams, it also paves the way to better scholarships. TOEFL consists of four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing. We will make sure to dedicate class time to each section equally or focus more on one section you might need more help in. It’s completely up to you how you decide to structure the class. If you decide to take classes with me, I will make sure to walk you through all necessary tips and strategies needed to ace the exam. You will also take 3 full test exams graded by me as well as 5 more practice ones at your own timing
This class is suited to aid you in preparing for the Collegeboard AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics exams. I have worked as an AP Economics teacher and tutor and have all the needed syllabi, AP classroom access, different textbooks (Krugman’s for AP, Barron’s, Princeton review), and the stamina to get you through the class and help you ace your AP exams. We will follow College Board’s course outline for the most part, unless you individually would like to cover specific units that you might need more help with. I will also use past exams to better prepare you for the AP exam and help you practice. Mid-course as well as on the very final day, we will complete full tests just so that you can get a better understanding of what areas you need improvement in as well as see how you have improved from having studied in this class. I usually structure classes based on Modules, covering first theory then exam questions related to the covered module.
This class is designed for high school students in their junior or senior year of high school. Undergraduate students that want to pursue graduate studies can also be suitable to take this course. The class is aimed at helping students have a better understanding of what it takes to get into a good college. This class offers an intensive workshop where I will guide you through the steps necessary to write a good college essay, its components, as well as what it needs to be set apart from the rest of thousands of students. It is said that a college essay will make or break an application. I am here to help you ace it! In addition, if you want, we can also cover material on CV writing and how to polish your CV so that it stands out professionally and it catches the eye of the employer.

Math tutoring for high school students
As a teaching professional, I have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge. My goal is to provide quality education. I am aware that some topics may seem complex, but often this is simply the result of an inadequate explanation by the teacher. With me, you will discover a real interest in the material! We strive together to achieve academic excellence, overcoming the shortcomings and difficulties encountered by your child. Studies will become a pleasant experience for him. In addition to the courses, I can also help with school orientation, identifying their preferences and highlighting the advantages and benefits of a fulfilling educational ambition. The sessions generally take place according to the following stages: 1️⃣ The first sessions are devoted to the assessment of the student's level in order to detect existing gaps. 2️⃣ Next, we create a personalized plan to address these gaps, including the number of hours of work needed, specific areas to focus on, and appropriate training and development exercises. 3️⃣ We stay in constant contact with the student's class teacher, to keep up to date with the latest requirements and ensure a consistent approach. 4️⃣ Subsequently, I provide exams similar to those that are likely to be asked in class, to prepare the student effectively. 5️⃣ Upon request, I write a regular report, usually monthly, to keep parents informed of their child's progress throughout their course. I adapt my methodology according to the specific needs of each student, thus offering them a personalized and adapted work approach. In addition, I offer crash courses for students preparing for the start of the school year, allowing them to start the year well prepared, with a solid lead on the school curriculum. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I will be happy to help you.

    Leila Shamira
IB Math SL, IB Math HL, Internal Assessment, IGCSE, GCSE, AS-Level, A-Level, O-level, Edexcel Math
Dear students and parents, I am an enthusiastic and hard-working multilingual (English, Russian, Turkish, Azerbaijani) Math and Statistics educator and Data Analyst with 12 years of teaching and 16 years of research experience in an international environment. First, as a Math Teacher, my main aim is to encourage students to analyze the problem carefully and find different solutions for one question. This method helps students to choose the easiest way of solution for her/him during the exam and finish it in time. I teach students both ways how to solve questions without a calculator with math tricks, and how to use a calculator more effectively. As you know in the exam there might be non-calculator and calculator papers. Moreover, this ability helps students not only to understand the math subject deeply but also will be very helpful during their adult life. As a Math High-Level and Standard-Level (AA, AI) teacher in IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program) the part of my teaching also consisted of supervising students’ research projects. Previous research experience in the frame of UNDP (UN Development Program) by that time was very valuable. Being an IB Math Examiner helped me to see the clear picture of students' mistakes done during the solutions. So, I teach students how to show their solutions to get more marks on the exam. Working with British School during this hard time of COVID taught me to be prepared for any challenges, to make decisions in a very short time, to be ready for any daily but very important changes. Teaching online became more interesting by using such helpful math tools as Desmos, GeoGebra, TI 84 Calculator Online, etc. Having teaching experience (Math and Statistics) in one of the top universities of the US (UW-Madison) helped me clearly to see the path of a student from the school bench to the university auditorium. Only by working in both school and university, you can understand what is better to learn for a student to be helpful in the future university years. Years of hands-on work experience and a keen interest in Math teaching as a profession, excellent Math and Statistical skills, a deep understanding of IB Global mission, being curious to learn the new curriculum (IGCSE, A-Level), and clearly seeing the connection between the school and university Math have prepared me well to see strengths and weaknesses of the student and how to use that strong side of a student to improve the gaps that student earned in her/his earlier years. Therefore, I believe that all these experiences will help me smoothly rise the level of my students and succeed in their future life. Sincerely, Leila

Mathematics, Sciences, Algebra, Calculus, Statistics: Higher Education - private lessons.
Need help with math and science (physics, chemistry,...)? As a civil engineer, 31, I am happy to help you! Learn at your pace and with many examples to clarify the learning material. I have years of experience in teaching simple and complex material. The lessons run as follows. First of all, together we look for the student's biggest stumbling blocks. These can be related to the subject matter as well as to the study method. From there, I continue to work at the pace of the student and encourage them to ask as many questions as possible. I also give them tips and tricks, and improve their working methods where necessary. During the lesson I give many examples to make the subject matter more interesting and we solve exercises together. Once the student has mastered the exercises from the lesson, I give some more challenging exercises to also test on the deeper understanding of the subject matter. In this way I try to optimally prepare the student for his / her test or exam. However, learning should also be enjoyable. That is why I always strive for a good relationship with the student through a spontaneous and positive approach. I am also very patient. All this lowers the barrier to ask questions and improves the student's learning process. Are you interested? Do not hesitate to contact me! See you soon! Tim
