Sociology, Politics and Philosophy for A Level, Access, Foundation and Undergraduate students

I offer classes on History, Geography, and Political Science, with over 11 years' of experience in these subjects, both professionally and academically. I hold Bachelor's Degrees in both History and Political Science (from the University of Florida), as well as a Master's in Political Science, specifically European Politics (from KU Leuven). I have extensive experience in a wide range of historical and political subjects and have always had a keen interest in history and the social sciences. Additionally, previously I have been a journalist (dealing with Competition Law) and currently am an editor working on a wide variety of subjects for organizations such as the UNHCR and Goethe Institut, among others. I am capable of teaching and lecturing on numerous historical and political events and periods in history, with myself having specialized in European history, American history, African history, as well as the Medieval period and Antiquity.

My teaching style is student-centered and adaptive, focusing on making learning both enjoyable and highly effective. Having excelled in the IB Diploma myself, achieving 6s and 7s in all the subjects I teach at higher level—Economics, Politics and, English Language and Literature —I know firsthand what it takes to succeed in the program. I understand the pressure students face and provide guidance on both mastering content and developing strong exam strategies, including time management and familiarity with past papers. My students benefit from my deep subject knowledge and my passion for helping them achieve their best potential. Many of my students have shown marked improvement in both their confidence and academic performance. I mainly teach math lessons from middle school to high school. Before starting the lessons, I need to get in touch with the student to know their level, the areas where they want to improve and their objectives. Depending on the level, I adapt the work seen in class to the different points of improvement and suggest exercises consistent with what the student is stuck on. At the same time, I go over point by point the elements that were not for the student (in the Ds and the questions) I rework the exercises seen in class. Finally, and this is the most important, I advise the student on his working methods, with what state of mind to approach the exercises. I can also provide homework help in subjects other than mathematics: I got 17 in the HEC philosophy exams and I didn't get below 18 in subjects such as SES, Philosophy and history in the BAC. I recommend at least one math lesson per week in order to take stock of the week; it is regularity that allows progress. As a Tutor at EDHEC I already have experience of courses with high schools. I am a calm, composed and educational person. In terms of math, I got 18 in my math baccalaureate and then I went to a HEC preparatory class at Louis-Le-Grand in advanced math where I had more than 12 hours of math per week.

Theoretical subjects and languages often seem complicated to grasp. The concepts and terminology the former contains sometimes make it difficult for students to get a proper hold on a basic part of the subjects. However, I will introduce all these theoretical concepts to you uniquely and in a storytelling mode. These subjects will not haunt you anymore, as your tutor is here to guide you throughout your journey with a proper study plan and fun learning.

Recent graduate of Oxford University, theology and religion. A*s in A levels and 9s at gcses. Will provide high level tutoring in any subject (ks2-4, gcse, a level etc) related to my degree subject. These include Religious studies, ethics, philosophy, politics, english (literature at a-level, lit and lang gcse). Can offer subject specific teaching, but also more generally essay writing practice, as well as oxbridge interview, personal statement, and entrance exam help, particularly for students in the state sector. While I cannot guarantee success, I will do my best to relay my experiences and hopefully provide students with helpful guidance. Classes will be catered specifically according to each student, however I will often ask for them to come along with recent examples of written work, or practice papers/questions.

Using real-life case studies and analytical tools, students will gain an understanding of criminological perspectives and their application in addressing current criminal justice issues. Theories and Thinkers of Sociology and Criminology Explore the ideas that have shaped sociology and criminology with a focus on influential thinkers and groundbreaking theories. This class covers major sociological and criminological theories, from classical frameworks to contemporary perspectives. Students will examine the works of key thinkers like Durkheim, Weber, Marx, Foucault, and others, understanding how their ideas contribute to our knowledge of society and criminal behavior. By analyzing these foundational theories, students will develop critical thinking skills and a deep understanding of how social forces and structures impact individual and group actions in society.

For any A-level students who are looking for further help with politics, we can focus on one module per session and hone in on the theory of it and ensure the student knows examples. Additionally to this, come exam season we can practice how to write essays. As a former politics A-level student i know overwhelming the subject could be, so my role would be to help organise and go through the course.

I specialise in teaching GCSE and A level sociology and psychology and also I am able to teach GCSE religious studies. As I am a newly graduated student hence I am up to date with today’s curriculum and what to teach students. I can help them achieve amazing grades i can make them the notes they need to revise as well as more simplified way of teaching them. This will help them understand better.
