Humans are natural storytellers. We look for ways to share our stories and ideas with our community, and one of the best ways to do that is through effective creative writing. In this class, you'll learn how to: -Structure stories -Build characters -Write engaging dialogue -Hook readers to the page I can provide story and character consultation and general feedback on your current projects. This is a beginner class. I also offer intermediate and advanced creative writing for those who are looking for more specific feedback and skills. I am a published author and produced screenwriter. I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. I have taught students both in person and remotely, planning lessons using virtual presentations, activities and resources both in the UK and abroad. I believe the most successful results come from fostering a friendship with my students, and providing constant encouragement and support in their areas of interest. I pride myself on being an attentive listener and carefully adapt to the specific needs of my students, which is particularly helpful for my SEN and ESOL pupils. I have previously volunteered as a mentor with charities such as Al Muntaha Tutoring and Debate Mate, providing mentorship, relevant advice, and support to young people. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they are specifically struggling with, or helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London. Learning a new language is so much fun, not to mention it can be very useful when travelling or going on holiday or even if it’s just learning for fun. I dedicate my time & knowledge to ensure I assist every student to their individual needs, whether that is assisting with their pronunciation, practicing writing and structuring paragraphs.
