Are you passionate about poetry, drama and literature? Want to develop your writing skills with a creative and inspiring mentor? Join me in my engaging and dynamic classes, where I combine my experience as a published author, performance poet and playwright with a deep love for teaching. I've had the privilege of performing poetry alongside jazz musicians, blending the rhythm of words with the energy of live music, creating truly immersive and evocative experiences. My theatre productions have brought together storytelling, dance, poetry and rap to create hilarious and heartbreaking narratives that left audiences buzzing. I draw on all of this experience in my classes. My workshops are designed to help you explore your creative literary practice in innovative ways, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned writer looking to refine your craft. In addition to my performances, I've taught poetry workshops in schools and creative writing at the prestigious Leeds Playhouse. I’ve worked with diverse groups of students and writers of all ages. I specialise in creating a supportive and creative space for you to experiment with your voice, learn from classic and contemporary works, and gain practical skills to elevate your writing. Through my classes, you’ll gain: - Insight into the craft of poetry, prose and drama from a published author, poet and playwright. - The opportunity to experiment with different styles, from formal verse to free verse, prose to performance. - A deeper understanding of English literature, with a focus on both classic texts and modern works. - Techniques for writing that combine creativity with technical skill. - The chance to share your work in a safe and encouraging space. Trusted teacher: I am a fully qualified primary school teacher based in Falkirk with over 15 years of experience particularly in the upper primary level. If your child needs additional input in English or Maths to help them reinforce their classroom learning or if they are looking to extend themselves to work at Third Level in preparation for High School or Entrance Exams, then I am here to help. After our initial ‘get to know you’ session, I will build a program of learning that will support your child in all identified areas, helping them to feel more confident with concepts or skills they have found tricky to master as well as challenge them to reach their full potential moving towards higher level learning. My goal is to create supportive and engaging session where students feel motivated to explore, make mistakes in a safe environment and ultimately, experience success, helping to boost their confidence in any classroom or examination setting. Mathematics is often seen as a problem area for many students and their ‘tricky’ subject. With every student that identifies this as an area for development, my focus is on building a strong foundation in maths reinforcing key concepts, using key problem-solving strategies as well as developing critical thinking skills. Through the use of real-world, tangible examples, I will help students develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and how they can be applied in their own lives. This work will be followed up with targeted areas for further practice, consolidation and/or additional challenge. During my writing sessions, I will guide students in developing their practical writing skills, i.e. grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and organisation of points/plot. Whilst encouraging creativity throughout, I will ensure there are multiple opportunities for students to express themselves through various writing genres. We will also work on editing and reviewing with feedback sessions built in to help consolidate the techniques introduced. I strongly believe that reading is the key to unlocking a whole world of knowledge and imagination. In my reading sessions, I will focus on developing essential skills such as phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocab. Through a variety of activities, including reading aloud, guided reading, discussion and analysis, I will help students improve their reading abilities, expand their literary horizons, and hopefully, foster a lifelong love for books. I look forward to working with you.

I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. I have taught students both in person and remotely, planning lessons using virtual presentations, activities and resources both in the UK and abroad. I believe the most successful results come from fostering a friendship with my students, and providing constant encouragement and support in their areas of interest. I pride myself on being an attentive listener and carefully adapt to the specific needs of my students, which is particularly helpful for my SEN and ESOL pupils. I have previously volunteered as a mentor with charities such as Al Muntaha Tutoring and Debate Mate, providing mentorship, relevant advice, and support to young people. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they are specifically struggling with, or helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have - I look forward to speaking with you soon!

This workshop is designed to empower neurodivergent artists by providing tools and techniques to tap into their unique creative processes. Neurodivergent individuals—whether living with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or other cognitive differences—often approach creativity in non-linear, innovative ways. This class embraces and celebrates those differences, offering a supportive space to explore, experiment, and collaborate. Participants will be guided through a series of creative exercises that focus on unlocking new ways of thinking, finding flow, and transforming perceived challenges into artistic strengths. We will explore topics such as overcoming creative blocks, adapting work environments for sensory needs, and finding inspiration through unconventional sources. This class encourages the use of visual arts, poetry, storytelling, music, and movement, allowing each artist to express themselves authentically. Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your practice, this workshop aims to build confidence and foster a sense of community among neurodivergent artists, helping them unlock their full creative potential. Key Takeaways: - Practical strategies for embracing and enhancing creative processes as a neurodivergent artist. - Techniques for managing focus, sensory overload, and creative burnout. - Opportunities for collaboration and building a supportive network with fellow neurodivergent artists. - Exploration of how neurodivergent perspectives can enrich artistic expression. - This class is open to artists of all mediums and experience levels. I teach out of a cosy and very friendly cafe but it can get busy and occasionally, rather noisy. If you are concerned that this might be overwhelming, I am happy to travel to a location that better suits your sensory needs
