Improving Your Writing To Become A Published Writer

Using my wealth of experience in creative writing, production and publishing, I will teach you everything you'll need to know about your chosen area of writing, from turning an idea into a plan, right up to getting the finished article out there. I can help to bring your poetry to life, teach you the fundamentals of publishing a short story, or even help you to self-produce a play. I prefer a collaborative approach to teaching, where student and teacher work together to bring out each others potential. I like to tailor the sessions to their interests, getting a flowing conversation and finding the core of the students needs. I feel it's most important to develop a learning plan around the student.

These sessions, for which you have asked me, also seem to be perfectly unanimous since they arouse a certain enthusiasm (and a certain enthusiasm). Indeed, they have the advantage of face-to-face sessions (ex: quality of the interaction), without its disadvantages (ex: loss of travel time) with additional advantages (ex: the entire session transcribed in writing on the chat). That is why, at your request, I continue to offer this option. À la carte: evaluated and adapted to each personality.

Poetry writing: explore the building blocks for fun and effective poems!
This class will introduce you to some building blocks for writing effective poetry. This will focus on imaginative and descriptive aspects of poetry, as opposed to technical and academic aspects. It also works for creative writing in general. However, it will specifically focus on some of the more playful and concise elements of poetry, as opposed to the structure and narrative of prose, for example. There are a lot of barriers and negative preconceptions around poetry which I am to dismantle - building confidence and making poetry feel fun, as opposed to fearful! Enthusiasm is more important to me than academic ability. I also welcome pupils who speak English as an additional language and will try my best to accommodate as many access needs as possible. Please message me if you have any access needs that you'd like to discuss in advance.

Engaging Creative Writing Classes (For All Levels)
I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. I have a special passion for creative writing, which I specifically studied in my joint honours degree (BA English with Creative Writing), and specialise in producing stories, written poetry, and spoken word poetry which I have previously performed at events. I have run creative writing workshops for children at previous educational centres and love to make writing enjoyable, engaging and exciting for all of my students at all levels. I believe the most successful results come from fostering a friendship with my students, and providing constant encouragement and support in their areas of interest. I pride am an attentive listener and I carefully plan my lessons according to the specific needs of my students, which is particularly helpful for my SEN, ESOL, and younger pupils. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they want to excel at, and helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have - I look forward to speaking with you soon!

English: Communication, Vocabulary, creative writing
In my typical communication and writing class, I focus on engaging students through a hands-on, interactive approach. I believe in fostering an environment where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and ideas. My classes often begin with a brief introduction to the day’s topic, whether it’s vocabulary building, sentence structure, or crafting compelling narratives. I encourage participation by incorporating group discussions, writing exercises, and real-life examples to make the content relatable. During the lessons, I emphasize clarity, coherence, and creativity in writing. I guide students on how to effectively organize their thoughts and use precise vocabulary to convey their messages. We analyze various writing styles, dissecting passages to understand tone, style, and purpose. Feedback is a crucial part of the process, so I regularly provide constructive criticism, helping students identify areas for improvement while celebrating their strengths. I also prioritize practical application, encouraging students to write short pieces during class, which we review together. This allows them to immediately apply what they’ve learned and improve through practice. By the end of the class, my goal is for students to leave feeling more confident in their communication skills and inspired to continue refining their writing abilities.
