Poetic London tour: an alternative London tour and chance to develop your own poetry

STARTS IN APRIL (availability is from March 31st onwards)

If you are serious about writing poetry, or even just a serious poetry reader, then join me for a guide to the poetry of London, while also having the chance to work together on your own writing inspired by the wanderings we will take. A particular focus will be south of the river, the docklands, and the square mile (the old city of London). Explore the worlds of - and delve into - Shakespeare, William Blake, Arthur Rimbaud and others and investigate the liminal places of London that have inspired many London poets.

I will also be able to support your writing in online classes. You may have written for a long time, or just be taking a first step to find a safe environment to share your work with someone else. Writing can be such an enriching practice (which may even transform your life), but this doesn't mean it is easy or fulfilling all the way. There are bumps and blocks and tensions... one great way through them is to start to build a community... a good place to start can be to find someone to guide the process of writing and finding ways to support your creativity. I can also signpost to places to go and can guide you to group opportunities and communities, whatever your means.

This is best done as a series of classes to reflect and work on your own work.

I am a published poet and fiction writer and have worked as a writing tutor for 5 years. I have an MA in Creative Writing and am studying towards a PhD. I work as a writing mentor for poets and writers from many different backgrounds.

Do you write? Do you feel like writing? Ideas running through your head
Yes! Do you write? Do you feel like writing? But where to start and/or how to continue? You have scattered writings, unrelated to each other - or worse, bored at the bottom of a drawer or in "Documents" on your computer... Ideas that run, run through your head but never cross the finish line. So give their lives, and don't worry, I'm here! Writer's block is a nice word/illness invented to reassure the "writer" stuck in the beginning of his text! I took the plunge, I dared!, I wrote, reworked my texts and publishers appreciated them! Already 3 books published - and one in progress: Entre deux bleus, Papa Tango Charlie, Mals à mon slam) You will see what a pleasure it is to have YOUR book in your hands! And it will go faster than you think. As you know, two are always stronger! The scheduled sessions are one hour long but we are allowed to go a little over - I didn't swallow a clock! - and what's more, you can't help but notice that we get a lot done in an hour! The story is moving forward, moving forward... thanks also to the personal work between two sessions - and the book is being written, from 30 pages, we've gone to 60 and it's not over yet...

The progression of the program will be as follows: Week 1- A brief exploration of the questions, "What is a poem?", “What makes a good poet?” and "Why do write poetry?". Participants will bring their favorite selection of poetry to discuss why they feel connected to both the writing and the poet. This is in preparation for Week 2.
