Finding a Creative Path. Discover your visual arts level. Online or in person - available internationally
Taught by RCA graduate and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. This class is an informal assessment of your visual arts level. It is available online internationally and in person within 25 miles of BH12 in the UK.*
The purpose of this class is to discover what visual arts level you are. This information can be used so I can create bespoke classes for you, you may be wanting a second opinion or you may want advice on what creative path to follow, whether that is continuing to work with me or for further education, scholarships or competition applications.
You are welcome to book to support your education, for leisure or simply so I can help you fulfil a creative dream. I also have a lot of experience helping clients overcome creative blocks and developing wellbeing practices for creatives.
I am here to support you, so however you wish to use this class and its results is your choice.
We will discuss your passions and your goals.
You will be asked to prepare a selection of the work you have made previously to show me. This should demonstrate the range of media you enjoy working with, the subjects you love and/or the goal you currently have. Eg. If you would like to improve your painting, make sure you include recent examples of your painting. If you do not have anything, please do not worry we can create some together.
In this class I will ask you some questions and I will ask you to draw for me so I can assess your drawing ability and look at how you use your tools. By asking you to draw for me, I am assessing many things that are relevant for all methods of visual arts so please do not worry if drawing is not a strength of yours. If you have particular goals we will explore this also.
I will explain more as we work together.
I can provide a paragraph of written tutorial feedback on what we discover together in this class so you can use this as reference moving forwards (this is optional).
I look forward to working with you and learning more about your art and your goals.
*If your location is more than 5 miles from BH12 then there will be an additional fee for my time travelling for you. This is charged at half the hourly teaching rate pro rata.

This is my own artists statement:
My work is informed and inspired by the wild, folklore, the magic of the everyday and the stories that give us a unique sense of ownership over the land and spaces we visit. My most recent self initiated work explores how image making, writing and ceramics can cohabit to communicate narratives and ideas about women in nature, and the folklore of plants and animals as they relate to symbols of self-realisation and transformation.

MENTORING IN ARTS : Discover how to say something through your artistic work.I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen.

With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns.
In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on.
You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns.

CONTEMPORARY VISUAL ART: UNDERSTANDING AND PRACTICEKEY OBJECTIVES:
• To introduce the right toolkit to take on contemporary art of any kind, no matter how difficult, minimal and conceptually driven it may be.
• To learn to spot and call out artwork that is being difficult or challenging because it’s a load of rubbish.
• To make you feel more confident when making and looking at contemporary art!
How can we be so categorical about something as subjective as deciding if art is ‘good’ or ‘bad’? Think of it like this: If you’re not any good at carpentry, you can still identify a poorly made coffee table. Basically, what we’re going to try to do is understand how to recognise if an artwork has been responsibly made or not. In the case contemporary art that has been made responsibly, this class will suggest that your kid could not have made it, any more than they could have removed your appendix, designed a suspension bridge or landed a crashing helicopter. In the case of art that has not been made responsibly, then yes, perhaps your kid could have made it.

Idris
Painting Tutor: Discover and develop your artistic languageI am an artist and philosopher from Amsterdam currently living in Antwerp. I studied in London where I acquired a BA from Art Academy London and a BA in philosophy from St Mary's University London.
Artistic development starts by identifying your artistic interest. As artists, we don't always know why we draw and paint the things that we do. Yet they are not random. What captivates us or draws us towards certain artworks? This might be the tonal way in which light reflects, structural forms or mathematical division. The point being, is that we all have such aesthetic interests and step 1 is finding out what interests you!
Step 2 is helping you express your interests through painting techniques, styles and materiality. But it all starts with you. What do you want to say? And how? I will help you do this through discussion, looking at your previous work (if you have any), introducing you to a LARGE variety of artists, potentially copying their styles. I adjust my classes according to your needs.
The goal is simple: to come to understand your artistic interest, help you find techniques to express them and develop your artistic language.
(Please note that just because you have found an artistic interest and a way to express it, it does not mean that you must do only one thing for the rest of your life. It is the downfall of creativity to repeat and paint the same way over and over again. Instead, allow your interests to drive your creativity. Let it be the starting point, venture out and discover it from various angles and ways of expressing it they change, we must remain honest and respond accordingly such that our artistic language can also grow.)
Have questions? Don't hesitate to message me! I can tailor a class to your needs :)

This workshop is aimed at people of all ages, from children to adults who love to draw and want to learn tricks and tips for drawing.
You can bring anything you like and would like to draw, whether it's a manga, a photograph, or even the actual object if you can bring it with you. If you don't have anything in particular, we'll look at the materials I've prepared together and I'll give you tips on how to draw!
You can draw on paper with a pencil or marker, or if you have a tablet, that's fine too.
