Trusted teacher: Piano leren spelen is ontzettend leuk! Je kunt dan iets wat de meeste mensen niet kunnen, maar wel erg graag zouden willen leren. Je leert noten lezen, ritme tappen, beide handen tegelijk gebruiken, hard en zacht spelen, akkoorden herkennen en nog veel meer. Pianospelen is een echte kunst, maar bijna iedereen kan het leren! Als je regelmatig oefent, zul je versteld staan van jezelf. We beginnen met een goede basis, zoals de juiste zit- en handhouding, muziekschrift lezen en in tempo spelen. Voor gevorderde leerlingen ligt de focus op articulatie, dynamiek, frasering en hoe je in een klassieke of populaire stijl speelt. In mijn lessen ligt de nadruk op ritme en expressie. Het gaat er niet om dat je iets supersnel kunt, maar dat je een pianostuk met gevoel en in het juiste ritme kunt spelen. Ik ben nu 41 en speel piano sinds mijn 8e. Ik begon met eenvoudige stukjes en kreeg les van verschillende leraren, waaronder Sherry van Baaren. In Enschede studeerde ik bij de Russische pianist Michail Markov voor de juiste interpretatie van klassieke muziek zoals Mozart-sonates en romantische stukken. Dit alles heeft ertoe geleid dat ik nu zelf pianoles geef en daarnaast ook mijn eigen pianomethode heb geschreven. I currently teach several adults and numerous younger students. I specialize in students who have recently moved to the Netherlands and have little to no experience with English. I apply a hybrid method of ESL and school curriculum. After working for four years as a private tutor in Amsterdam for numerous international families, I have discovered a love for teaching Adult ESL. My goal is to not only to teach ESL tailored to life in the Netherlands, but to also offer advice and support to expat adults around life in Amsterdam. I currently work with the parents of many of my students who wish to improve their English. I am a former primary school teacher (International School of Choueifat-Dubai) who now works exclusively as a private tutor. My students are mainly expats, though I also do have several local Dutch students. Having moved around quite a bit, I understand the stress families undergo adapting to a new school system. After four year in Amsterdam, I also now understand the unique stress parents also endure adapting to Dutch culture and regular use of the English language. My teaching methods focus on improving Adult ESL that is tailored specifically to life in the Netherlands. I had a great first lesson with Mariela. What I found most important: - Mariela ensures you're comfortable. Her kindness and calm confidence work wonders for a self-conscious and nervous person like me. - Explanations! Everything is clearly explained, so you always know why you're doing something and how to do it correctly. - I loved the flexible approach: if you know exactly what you want, she'll help you achieve it, but if you're completely lost, she's ready to guide you, offer different options, and give you advice. No pressure, but lots of support. - I feel like Mariela has many different teaching strategies for various personalities and goals, which is awesome. Plus, she has a lot of cool vocal tricks up her sleeve! - It's obvious that Mariela loves both music and teaching, which is so inspiring. Overall, I had a very fun and productive experience and will definitely continue studying with Mariela!

Pablo is a great teacher! I began taking drum lessons again after a 8 year break from playing and Pablo has really helped me to get back my passion for drums while cleaning out some old bad habits. He has structured lessons which he tailors to my individual flaws and desires which is really appreciated. He's a down to earth guy, really easy to communicate (Fantastic English) with and organise lessons, even with last minute changes driven by my calendar. I really like his overall approach to drums, the tips and tricks I'm picking up from him are things you won't necessarily pick up by practising alone or reading a book/youtube etc. He focuses on reading music, different playing techniques and playing things which give you enjoyment. For someone who already plays drums and is looking to improve and have fun a long the way, I really couldn't recommend Pablo more!

We had our first session a few days ago, with Alessandra tutoring my 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter, developing their reading and writing in English and their mathematics. Alessandra's previous experience as a teacher certainly shines through, as she definitely seems to know how children of this age learn. She provided original and exciting activities for the kids and they found it great fun; they are looking forward to seeing her again next week. Alessandra was professional to work with and I can definitely recommend her.
