Hello! My name Serhii. I am a musicologist. I Have a Master's degree in Musical Arts and am a candidate for a PhD. I am a first-year postgraduate student of the National Music Academy of Ukraine (Kyiv). My class will help you understand the development of world music culture. I will tell you about the music of the Middle Ages, Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism and Modernism. The life stories of many composers can help you learn more about music. I understand other types of art, so I will be able to comprehensively explain the philosophy of art of a certain era. In my class, we will listen to music from different eras and be able to distinguish between styles of music. We will also look at painting, architecture of historical eras, because they are related to music. I teach music history at: - Kyiv Lysenko State Music Lyceum - Bible Seminary on a volunteer basis I also teach solfeggio, music theory and harmony. I teach these subjects in an interesting associative form, which increases the cognitive level of perception and memorization of information. I will be glad if I can be useful to you. My native language is Ukrainian, so my level of English is not perfect. I love helping flutists of all levels set and achieve their goals. My teaching is focused on building a strong foundation of fundamental skills, getting curious about music and flute playing, and learning how we can tell our stories through music. A bit about me: Hailed by Gramophone as a “sensitive and virtuoso performer,” flutist Kaleb delights audiences with his commanding presence, brilliant technique, and thoughtful interpretations. Is an active solo and orchestral musician, and has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, and the Grammy Award winning Albany Symphony Orchestra. He appeared as a soloist and as the conductor of the Colorado Flute Orchestra at the 2017 National Flute Association convention. Awards and honors are First Prize at the Bruce Ekstrand Memorial Competition, The MPIMC Prize at the Marina Piccinini International Masterclass, Winner of the Tuesday Musical Association’s Competition, and Winner of the Baldwin Wallace Concerto Competition. He has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Baldwin Wallace Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dwight Oltman and twice with the University of Colorado Early Music ensemble, working with Music Directors Zachary Carrettin and Robert Hill. As a teacher and clinician, has been on the faculty of the Baldwin Wallace Community Music School and The Joyful Noise Neighborhood Music School. Received his Bachelor’s degree from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he was a graduate Teaching Assistant, member of the graduate woodwind quintet, and lead TA for the College of Music. His principal teachers include George Pope, Christina Jennings, Damian Bursill-Hall and Andrei Pidkivka. His other significant influences have been Brook Ferguson and Amy Porter. Debut album, Grieg: Violin Sonatas for Flute, with pianist Nathália Kato, is available from MSR Classics.
