With me, you’ll discover the countless ways the piano can express music. You’ll explore compositions from various composers, periods, and styles, from the classical works of Mozart, Bach, Debussy, and Chopin, to modern pieces, pop songs, and jazz, including Shostakovich. Through eurhythmics exercises, you'll not only play but also feel the music by moving with it, enhancing your musical knowledge and deepening your emotional connection to sound. If you're unsure about moving with the music, don’t worry—I’ll be there to guide you in finding a way to enjoy and love music. I've played the piano since I was five years old and hold a Bachelor’s degree from the Geneva Music University. More recently, I completed my MA in Interdisciplinary Dance Performance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. While my teaching experience mainly focuses on children aged 5-10, I am also well-versed in providing music training and piano lessons for adults. Hey! My name is Seán, and I am an Irish singer-songwriter based in London with 2 years of teaching experience. I teach a range of disciplines, including piano, guitar, vocals, songwriting, and music theory. Having taught students of all ages and different levels of musicianship, I am pleased to say that I have built long-lasting relationships with many of my students. With an emphasis on creativity and student input; my lessons allow students to discover their own playing style and musical direction. I strongly believe that people learn best when they enjoy what they’re doing, and I incorporate this into my teaching style. I strongly encourage my students to bring their own ideas and suggestions to the lessons; that way they can learn a piece of music that they really like. With a background in classical music, I underpin my lessons with useful technical exercises that encourage dexterity, time-keeping and fluency. Finally, I encourage all my students to learn at least the fundamentals of music theory and sight reading. Striking a healthy balance between diligent exercises, music theory and fun musical expression, my lessons allow students to explore their musicality on all fronts. Isaac :) About Isaac: Originally from a small village in Northamptonshire, Isaac is a Clarinettist currently based in London. He made his solo debut in St. David’s Hall, Cardiff performing Mozart’s Concerto For Basset Clarinet, after winning the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Concerto Competition 2021. In the past year, Isaac has received Masterclasses from world-leading musicians such as Yehuda Gilad, Laura Ruiz Ferreres, Matthew Hunt, Carlos Ferriera and Harri Mäki. His recent festival highlights include performances with Maya Iwabuchi and Robin Green at the Hellensmusic Festival, taking part in Amsterdam and Främnas Masterclasses with Arno Piters and Herman Stefansson respectively, and the Voksenåsen Sommerakademi with Bjorn Nyman and Andreas Sundén. In 2020, Isaac was invited to take part in the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Lübeck, which was unfortunately postponed due to the pandemic. Isaac has performed recently as guest principal, sub-principal and bass clarinet with London Mozart Players, Neville Holt Opera, English Symphony Orchestra, London Firebird Orchestra and UK Tours with The Music Agency. He has performed in concerts and masterclasses under the conductors such as Sir Andrew Davis, Maxim Vengerov, Hannu Lintu, Jac van Steen, George Jackson and Leif Segerstam. Isaac graduated first-class honours from RWCMD in 2021 under the tutelage of the previous and current heads of woodwind Nick Carpenter and Rob Plane, respectively. Alongside winning the college Concerto Competition, Isaac also won the RWCMD Woodwind + Chamber Music Prize and auditions for side-by-side schemes with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Welsh National Opera. Also a passionate arranger, Isaac has recently had his work performed at Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) Young Creatives Projects, Durham University Big Band Charity Events, Dynamica Brass Academy, RWCMD Repertory by Entrepreneurial Performers Company (REPCo) and the Ormonde Ensemble, a wind quintet of which Isaac is a member. Isaac is currently furthering his studies with a Masters in Performance at the Royal College of Music, London, studying with Barnaby Robson, Richard Hosford and Tim Lines. He is the gracious recipient of scholarships from the HR Taylor Charitable Trust and Charlotte Fraser Foundation. He is also the 2022/23 holder of the Countess of Munster Trust Neil Black Award.
