Online Piano Lessons Online piano lessons are a fantastic way to make progress at the instrument from the comfort of your own home. Get in touch for a lesson if you'd like to find out more! Keep reading to learn more about my different approaches for children, teenagers and adults My Teaching Philosophy My aim with all students is to have you playing music as soon as possible. This means playing music that you resonate with and enjoying that experience - this takes priority over everything else. At all ages and levels I encourage improvising, learning tunes, memorizing tunes, writing music, listening to music, appreciating music, singing, clapping and, of course, a solid foundation in piano technique, music theory and music reading. Lessons for Young Children Children demonstrate an innate musical ability from a very young age. They can sing, dance, clap and appreciate music before they're able to read it and understand music theory. I encourage this innate musical ability from the first lesson. At this age I prioritize learning songs (by rote and by ear), improvising, and playing music over music reading. We have as much fun at the piano as possible. We will look at the fundamentals of music reading, but again, play first. Lessons for Older Children and Teenagers At this age I begin encouraging students to discover what music they resonate with. The best way to do this is to listen to music - listen as much as possible! Again, We improvise, learn and memorize songs (by ear and by rote), and play. At this age the student develops their music reading ability fast and we work together to deepen their understanding of the theory behind music. However, the priority is still the same; play music. I encourage students of this age to sit piano exams. Exams are not compulsory, but they provide the student with a clear goal to work towards. Lessons for Adults My lessons for adults are flexible. Some of my adult students are complete beginners, some have been playing the piano for decades. Adults already know what music they resonate with, so we let this guide the lessons. On day one we will establish what you wish to get out your piano lessons and work from there.

Trusted teacher: A bit about me: I am a trained Indian classical vocal music teacher, holding a Bachelor’s degree from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow (India). Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidhyapeeth is the premier institution in the field of indian classical music. I have been professionally involved in music across multiple countries for close to 18 years now. Currently, I compose music, sing for live events and train people online and offline. I specialise in training people of all ages across a variety of genres. These include Indian classical vocal music, semi-classical vocal music, light music, sufi music and devotional songs, folk music, music for meditation and music for social occasions. Recently, I composed and sang the Original Soundtrack (OST) for a short movie titled ‘The Kingmaker of the Mughal Empire’, which was showcased in India and the Netherlands. My most popular music workshop, ‘Play With Sargams’ follows an intuitive and engaging format where we practice different musical scales. I also encourage my students to experiment on their own with these scales and sing the same in different speeds and octaves. This activity helps my students to create a strong foundation of Indian classical vocal music. I also guide my students to play the Harmonium along with their singing. After the first lesson, I will assess the student’s standing with respect to singing, and give you a personalised development plan. This development plan will form the basis of your musical training. It will contain short term goals and landmarks, which will help the student to learn better. By using this development plan, we will break down the student’s learning curve into different modules. Looking forward to see you :)
