This writing module is based on a pedagogy that has a sharp focus on writing as practice and craft, but in a practical and experiential work environment. Rigorous training in the processes of writing and editing will accompany one-on-one guidance from the Senior Editors and mentors including myself, and involve rewriting and studying real submissions across fiction, humour, commentary, poetry and more.
Our curriculum has been developed to provide an exhaustive dive into the nitty-gritties of wielding the written word. The objective is simple: to play on your strengths as a writer or editor and help you find your distinctive voice. This is a competitive and exclusive programme, and we only select 5 applicants for each six-week session.
What’s special about WriteBeyond is its ability to give you on-ground experience of working at a living, breathing literary magazine. ALMA MAGAZINE is distinctive in its diversity of genres and writing styles. For those of you who wonder how exactly all that comes together, this is a singular opportunity to work alongside a diverse team of editors, artists, designers and writers.
The lessons will delve into both the technical and musical aspects of piano playing, theory, reading music, harmony, ear training, technique, pedagogy and more. My aim is to equip students to understand different music styles, build confidence, discover their unique voice and continue their musical journey independently. As Thelonious Monk said, the piano ain’t got no wrong notes.
I'm passionate about traversing genres since I have studied both jazz and classical to a high level, making this class perfect for creative pianists and composers who want to go beyond reading music off a piece of paper. Trinity/ABRSM curriculum upto Grade 8, can also be optionally included. Teaching effective practice methods is a priority, ensuring students progress confidently and without leaning on me. Please note, I only teach in person to maintain high standards of guidance in technique. This is not possible via video conferencing. Since everyone asks: yes, I did study at Berklee College of Music as an undergraduate for some time, and I do help students out with their audition preparation for various music colleges!
Currently, my students are between 14 and 44 years old— I believe that it’s never too late or too early to begin your musical journey. I look forward to your requests and have only one vacant spot remaining in my roster for Spring/Summer 2024. Book now!

Yuvraj is a great teacher with a wealth of experience and wisdom to share. I found our lessons to be a great enhancement for my piano learning and I always look forward to them. I would highly recommend anybody to consider working with him!
Yuvraj is a great teacher, for the first lesson we figured out together my current level and we set up a plan for the next lessons, I also enjoyed the exercices that he gave me.
In 2 month so far my technique has improved a lot. Juvraj has a remarkable ability to adapt their teaching style to suit individual learning preferences. As an intermediate level student with aspiration to learn different styles, I can say that the diverse range of techniques and musical genres that we discuss during the lessons keep the experience engaging and enriching. I also appreciate the thoughtfulness behind each lesson as he knows how to pick pieces tailored to my goals.
Yuvraj is a wonderful teacher! I've been studying piano for half a year with him, and the progress never stops. He teaches everything that you need to be a pianist, including the technique, classical theory, jazz theory, as well as how to find good new songs. Within the few months that I've had him, he quickly took me from having zero practical music knowledge to being able to read and play Trinity grade 3 songs on my own.
Yuvraj always tries to make piano something fun and enjoyable, rather than just another annoying thing to grind all the time. This is the guy for those who want to learn with a relaxed, slow and steady attitude. Even better if you're down to challenge yourself with new, unconventional music that you might not expect. While I don't really have anything to compare him to, I am very happy learning piano with Yuvraj.
Really nice lesson, Yuvraj is a patient and clear teacher!
