We use writing to send emails, type messages, write essays, build resumes, and tell stories. Writing is a crucial form of communication, but it can feel hard sometimes. In this course, students will explore different strategies to plan, organize, and polish writing samples, and they will have the opportunity to dissect their own writing at each stage of the process. Whether the task is an essay for school or a resume for a job application, this course will help you to produce writing you are proud of.
Is poetry confusing when you try to read it? Do you want to write poetry but don't know where to start? Do you love poetry and want to talk about and share your favorite poems? If you answered yes to any of these questions - this class is for you! In "Why Poetry", we will look at different forms of poetry and the work of at least one new poet each week. We will practice reading and unraveling the meaning of poems together, and we will discuss the significance of specific poems and poets.
