WHAT - Collective stage improvised singing Two days to dare to improvise! The circlesong is a musical structure inspired by the singer Bobby McFerrin in which a person is at the center of a group arranged in a circle and freely improvises small musical patterns (loops) that she distributes to parts of the circle and that she changes according to her inspiration. This course is for anyone who wants to enjoy a weekend of diving in the world both crazy and meditative improvised singing. During this course, I will offer games and tools aimed at gradually introducing you to the practice of circlesong. We will put ourselves in the position of the enthusiastic explorer who is thirsty for discovery by alternating between moments of experimentation with improvisation, moments of seeking cohesion and listening within the group, moments of work on rhythm, precision and arrangement, moments of attention on our bodily expression... We will approach all this in different forms of collective cacophony where everyone sings for themselves without anyone hearing it, the jovial solo where a person expresses himself in front of the group and delights in the support she receives from the singers who accompany him. The singing time will be interspersed with small exchanges to verbalize our feelings, our questions and all that wants to express themselves. The objective of this course is to put one foot inside the circle and taste what it feels like to be at the center of a group that sings with you and for you. And for those who choose to stay among the circle of singers, it will be an opportunity to savor the auditory delights that will come out of our voices while working on their place within the choir (comfort and pleasure in repetition, precision voice...).
Two and a half days of spontaneity sung in the forest! This residential course in the Ardennes is for anyone wishing to discover the world of collective improvised singing and link this universe to that of the forest. The goal for the participants of this internship is to become familiar with the practice of collective improvisation and to share moments of enchantment in a benevolent group dynamic by taking advantage of the surrounding nature. It is indeed a beautiful market place permaculture that welcomes us along a river on the edge of the forest. From singing, singing, singing to the program. Improvised obviously. And in many different forms. Activities to sharpen listening, cohesion and precision within the group. Exercises to develop the harmonic ear, the sense of rhythm and musical vocabulary to build improvised arrangements. Games to awake to letting go and a listening posture of what passes through us in singing. Moments to discover the musical structure of circlesong inspired by singer Bobby McFerrin. Everything is connected to you, giving you the choice to leave your comfort zone or not. Singing, singing, singing. And in many different settings. Our voices will vibrate the branches of trees, find echo in the shadow of a tunnel or dance on the grass of the garden. Experiment and play with sounds and colors, awaken to the music of nature will be the key words of this course with a joyful invitation to put in the posture of a child who enjoys nothing and tries everything. Singing, singing, singing. Whether in the posture of chorister or soloist. You will have many opportunities to improvise yourself and drive circlesongs. The activities that we will propose to you will be as many ways to draw your attention to a particular skill of improvised singing as to support your creative activity.
