As our lives become more and more influenced by digitalisation, it is my belief that also our music education should adapt to this. So, whether you want to record your own ideas, make beats on your laptop, learn about synthesizers or audio production, feel free to reach out to me! My teaching method is based on developing your own creativity right from the start, while learning useful techniques and knowledge about audio software etc. on the way. I mainly use Ableton, but a lot can be done in GarageBand or even on your tablet or phone! If you're already playing an instrument we will try to connect both practices, but if you're just starting out with doing music, that works as well and together we learn unconventional methods to get you started on your journey. Experimental electronic music composition / Free improvisation (theory & practice) (Rotterdam)

We just have started to work with Yannis, but I am really happy about how we progress and feel inspired and looking forward to future lectures. Yannis teaches me to develop a vision on how to approach working with sound, while recording, processing and using it in electronic composition. I would say he is opening my mind in a way toward the analysing a character of sound as a compositional element. I like that lessons are not only just about a particular technique (and there are so many to learn from Yannis), but about developing a workflow and a mindset. Examples from historical electronic pieces to listen and analyse from legendary electroacoustic composers are really inspirational. After each lesson there is a home task and in the following lecture there is an analysis of the results and based on that Yannis gives lessons on what needs to be changed, improved, pay attention to etc, in order to develop compositional skills. I highly recommend Yannis as a teacher, if you are into modern experimental electroacoustic composition and improvisation.

I had a great first lesson using Ableton! Niki spent time helping me with my equipment set-up and also went through some of the settings with me. He explained things very clearly, answered my questions and showed me some of the basic things necessary to find my way as a beginner using Ableton.
