I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. I have a special passion for creative writing, which I specifically studied in my joint honours degree (BA English with Creative Writing), and specialise in producing stories, written poetry, and spoken word poetry which I have previously performed at events. I have run creative writing workshops for children at previous educational centres and love to make writing enjoyable, engaging and exciting for all of my students at all levels. I believe the most successful results come from fostering a friendship with my students, and providing constant encouragement and support in their areas of interest. I pride am an attentive listener and I carefully plan my lessons according to the specific needs of my students, which is particularly helpful for my SEN, ESOL, and younger pupils. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they want to excel at, and helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London. Irma is a great teacher. Everything is well organized in each session. We have fun during the class, so learning dutch with her is not boring. She pays extra attention to the pronunciation and corrects me when I'm wrong. This is very helpful to learn the pronunciation correctly from the beginning since changing it later needs much more effort. Irma is also very flexible with timing and content of the course. I am completely happy with my private classes.
