Trusted teacher: This course aims to help participants on three major points that hamper them from producing quality written products: lack of adequate and advanced vocabulary, advanced ideas, and advanced grammar. This course entwines these three points with global economic, political, and environmental issues which also aim to extend students’ general knowledge about global issues, just to name a few, ethics, technology, global supply chain, global warming, food security, business, etc. The basic philosophy behind this study is to help students advance their writing skills by introducing them to new ideas, concepts, advanced grammar structures, and advanced levels of vocabulary in a meaningful context. The course takes its roots in rhetoric, the art of persuasion. The participants are encouraged to approach the issues from broader, analytical, and critical vantage points in order to write impressive pieces. Making a comprehensive analysis of the topics covered in this course is aimed primarily at the participants to reach a comprehensive and strong level of knowledge about the topics they will write about. The rationale behind the course is as follows: in order to write an advanced-level article, having advanced, in-depth, and multidimensional knowledge is imperative. For this reason, the intellectual knowledge of the participants is developed within the scope of this course.

German is the most widely spoken mother tongue in the European Union and is the official language in seven countries. There are 7.5 million people in 42 countries who are part of a German-speaking minority. How many people have already learned German as a foreign language? 289 million! It is the total number of people around the world who have learned German at some point, according to a calculation by the Germanist Ulrich Ammon. Another question is, to what extent they have done it. Currently, 15.4 million people around the world learn German as a foreign language, 90 percent are schoolchildren and the remaining 10 percent are adults. How many words are there in the German language? More than you might think. German learners soon learn that two nouns combined make up a new word. This makes it difficult to count the total number. In 2013, Berlin philologists estimated a total of 5.3 million German words. In 2017, the editors of the Duden, the standard work of German spelling, calculated that today's German has almost 23 million words (in its basic forms alone). This result is based on a gigantic digital collection of texts from a total of 40,000 fiction and non-fiction books. However, the latest edition of the Duden contains only 145,000 entries. German Tutor for Any Level (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced) (The Hague)

Saniah is really fantastic - my son (14.5 yrs) and I enrolled for '1-1' classes with her, mainly to improve our conversational fluency/ease (our main focus right now), and from even the first few minutes we immediately were at ease, feeling relaxed and open in trying and warming up our German. Saniah kept us challenged, yet not at a frustrating level, and thus very engaged, and was patient in correcting us and helping us to explore the interesting conversations that came up over the two hours of the lesson. Saniah is a very well informed and thoughtful person, with an international and well-travelled background, and we managed to cover a lot of ground exploring interesting and current topics; she also gave us great German book/movie recommendations, plus followed up with adding extra vocab lists and assignments if we wished. We have had only one lesson so far, but are very much looking forward to the next one - certainly exceeded expectations and very happy with the outcome.

Rianne
Rianne was a good choice of teacher. She is extremely patient - and goodness knows trying to teach a slow-learner like me requires a great deal of patience!! She is also friendly but firm. She always arrives on time, with classes prepared but isn't inflexible with the learning. For example, If we start to stray away from the book a little and pursue something that helps me understand a point of grammar or get to grips with the pronunciation of a specific phrase, she encourages it. She understands that for me, learning a new language is a real challenge and my confidence is not especially high whilst doing it - and i'm grateful that she sees this, tries to adjust the way she teaches to fit the way that i learn and doesn't show any exasperation! I would recommend Rianne wholeheartedly.
