My course focuses on building strong foundational skills and mastering the basics, essential for anyone starting out or looking to solidify their technique. My goal is to help you build the strong technical foundations that lead to freedom and joy in playing the violin while keeping the learning process fun and engaging. What makes my teaching unique? 🎻 A Fresh Perspective on Violin Technique I had the privilege of studying with world-renowned violinist Zakhar Bron, and at the age of 21, I had to completely rework my violin technique. Because I learned it later in life, I can break down the essentials and explain them in a way that’s easy to understand—something most violinists, who learned their technique as young children, often struggle to do. Together, we’ll build the foundations that will allow you to play freely, rather than feeling restricted by technique. 🌍 Multilingual Lessons I’m a native French speaker and fluent in both Spanish and English. You can choose the language you’re most comfortable with, so we can focus entirely on making progress with your playing. 📍 Flexible Lessons in London or Online I offer lessons in person here in London, but I’m also available online if that suits your schedule better. Violin private (or small group) lessons are offered in classical, traditional, and rebetiko violin, classical theory, Makam theory and improvisation for all ages, from beginners to advanced levels. The lessons are taught by a qualified violinist (Degree in classical violin, Orfeio conservatory of Athens, Greece) and bachelor student of CODARTS Academy (Rotterdam, Netherlands) - World music (Ottoman violin) with four years of teaching experience. There is also the option to learn theory, solfège. Bio: Yvonne was born in Kavala in 1998. She began her violin studies at the age of seven under the guidance of Z. Zlateva. She studied classical violin and music theory and obtained her diploma with "highest honors" in 2022 from the Orpheus Conservatory in Athens, under the guidance of her teachers, M. Plesti and D. Semsis. Since 2023, she has been a student at Codarts WMDC (Rotterdam, Netherlands), pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Turkish music-Ottoman violin (teacher: Burak Savas). She has been a member of many orchestras as well as various music ensembles and workshops (music ensemble with A. Liakakis and T. Gouvelis, classical violin with M. Szlezer, experimental violin with F. Siotas, composition and orchestration with V. Papadopoulos, oriental violin with G. Papaioannou, M. Kouloumis, composition and orchestration with C. Erdogan, M. Nasser, Y. Tockan, G. Baktagir, Kudsi Erguner’s ensemble, Greek traditional music with M. Mavroidi, folk orchestra with M. Pappou, etc.) and has performed on some of the most important music stages in the country. She has composed music for dance performances and short films. Additionally, she is a graduate student at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her first album, titled "Myrra," with T. Kofodimos, was released in December 2023. She has taught classical violin at the Pefki Municipal Conservatory, the Athens Conservatory, the Trofonio Conservatory of Livadeia, and has four years of experience teaching private lessons to students of all ages. My idea: Each lesson is unique and tailored to the student's needs. We can adjust the lesson according to what each person desires: from classical technique, exercises, and repertoire, to Maqam theory, taqsim, traditional/rebetiko/Ottoman repertoire, and of course, improvisation. My fundamental principle is that technique comes first, but what's important is that musical knowledge is not sterile but enjoyable. I achieve this through a variety of repertoire, a pleasant atmosphere, and especially through group playing, both among ourselves and with other students and musicians.
