As a teacher and mentor, I strive to inspire and motivate students to enjoy and appreciate the music they create in a stress-free and encouraging environment. To accomplish that, the student must develop a healthy foundation from the first lesson to prevent long-term injuries. With a solid foundation, they can build upon their techniques to learn new concepts and pieces more easily. In addition, it is essential that students eventually learn to become critical thinkers to efficiently problem-solve as they actively listen to and observe their playing to become more independent and better themselves by learning to use their judgment. Yueching holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance, where she studied under the tutelage of Danwen Jiang at Arizona State University and graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy in 2020 as a violin student of Ara Sarkissian. She has completed and registered training for Suzuki Violin Books 1-4 under the guidance of Jenna Potts. Yueching has over ten years of experience playing the violin and performing and has participated in various musical activities, including orchestral performances at Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the New World Center. Her enthusiasm and passion for the violin have led her to spend summers at the Montecito International Musical Festival, Aria International Summer Academy, and the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. While studying at Interlochen and attending festivals, she had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses led by Mark Holloway, Renee Jolles, Paul Kantor, and Oleh Krysa. Yueching has performed as a part of the OkMEA All-State Orchestra, Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, and the ASU Symphony Orchestra. Currently, she teaches students of all ages in her private studio in Tempe, AZ, or over Zoom.

Viola and Violin Lessons: Technique, Improv, and a Healthy Relationship with your Instrument (Malibu)
Zachary

What I enjoy most about my lessons with Zachary is how personable he is. You will not find a more patient or kinder instructor. For me, I decided that I wanted to learn how to play the violin later in life. I have never played an instrument my entire life. Zachary did not make me feel like my new start was impossible and he does not patronize. These are things that I have encountered from teachers in the past. Zachary meets you where you are in your abilities and helps you realize your potential. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help you on your journey. I highly recommend Zachary as a teacher if you are beginner to the most advanced levels. I look forward to each session! If you’ve read this far, stop what you’re doing and book him.

Maria is a very good teacher. I am an intermediate level student, so I was looking for someone who can give me nuanced feedback. Maria is really good at doing this, and helps with the tone and style of playing by leveraging her knowledge of violin, but also history of music, and the different styles. She pays a lot of attention in promoting dynamism and color when playing, so you get to make music instead of mechanically going through the score. She is very friendly and easy to communicate. I recommend her.

I had a great first lesson using Ableton! Niki spent time helping me with my equipment set-up and also went through some of the settings with me. He explained things very clearly, answered my questions and showed me some of the basic things necessary to find my way as a beginner using Ableton. I now have a few things to try out and I'm excited to start experimenting and seeing what I can record. Thanks Niki!
