Trusted teacher: Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice. In the context of a first course, you can get a well-founded idea of my pedagogy. I look forward to meeting you.

Trusted teacher: In the CIE (Cambridge International) curriculum, Biochemistry is primarily covered in Biology and partially in Chemistry at both IGCSE and AS/A Level. It focuses on the chemical processes and molecules essential for life. Here's a detailed overview: IGCSE Biology (0610/0970) Biochemistry at the IGCSE level introduces students to basic biological molecules and processes: 1. Biological Molecules - Carbohydrates: - Monosaccharides (e.g., glucose), disaccharides (e.g., sucrose), and polysaccharides (e.g., starch, glycogen). - Role in energy storage and release. - Proteins: - Made up of amino acids. - Functions: enzymes, structural components (e.g., keratin), and hormones. - Lipids: - Fats and oils: composed of fatty acids and glycerol. - Role in energy storage, insulation, and cell membranes. 2. Enzymes - Biological catalysts that speed up reactions. - Factors affecting enzyme activity: temperature, pH, and substrate concentration. 3. Photosynthesis - Biochemical process in plants to produce glucose using light energy, carbon dioxide, and water. - Equation: 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2. 4. Respiration - Aerobic respiration: Glucose + Oxygen → Carbon dioxide + Water + Energy (ATP). - Anaerobic respiration in humans: Glucose → Lactic acid + Energy. 5. DNA and Protein Synthesis (Basic level) - DNA as the molecule of inheritance. - Role of DNA in carrying genetic information. --- CIE AS and A Level Biology (9700) At the AS/A Level, biochemistry is studied in depth. Key areas include: 1. Biological Molecules - Carbohydrates: Structure and function of monosaccharides, disaccharides (e.g., maltose), and polysaccharides (e.g., starch, glycogen, cellulose). - Lipids: Triglycerides, phospholipids, and cholesterol. Role in membranes and energy storage. - Proteins: - Levels of structure: primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary. - Role of proteins in enzymes, antibodies, and transport (e.g., hemoglobin). - Nucleic Acids: - Structure of DNA and RNA. - Role of nucleic acids in protein synthesis. 2. Enzymes - Enzyme structure and mode of action (lock-and-key, induced fit). - Enzyme kinetics and factors affecting enzyme activity. - Competitive and non-competitive inhibitors. 3. Cellular Respiration - Glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation. - ATP production and its importance as an energy currency. 4. Photosynthesis - Light-dependent and light-independent (Calvin cycle) reactions. - Factors affecting photosynthesis. 5. Molecular Biology - DNA replication, transcription, and translation. - Role of mRNA, tRNA, and ribosomes in protein synthesis. 6. Biochemical Processes in Cells - Role of ATP in metabolism. - Metabolic pathways and enzyme regulation. --- CIE AS and A Level Chemistry (9701) While biochemistry is primarily a biology topic, it also features in chemistry at A Level: 1. Amino Acids and Proteins - Structure of amino acids and peptide bonds. - Protein hydrolysis and analysis. 2. Carbohydrates - Structure of glucose and its isomers. - Reactions of carbohydrates (e.g., oxidation). 3. Lipids - Structure of triglycerides, fatty acids, and phospholipids. - Saponification and ester formation. 4. Biochemical Techniques - Chromatography for separating amino acids and sugars. - Use of enzymes as biological catalysts in industrial processes. --- Summary - At the IGCSE level, biochemistry focuses on basic biomolecules (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids), enzymes, photosynthesis, and respiration. - At the AS/A Level, biochemistry delves deeper into molecular biology, enzyme kinetics, ATP production, protein synthesis, and metabolism.

My goal is to help your child reach their full academic potential in mathematics and develop skills that will prepare them for a bright future. Why choose my courses? Would you like your child to: Significantly improve your results in mathematics/physics-chemistry? Join a selective curriculum? Become independent and confident in your abilities? Over the last 5 years, I have had the privilege of supporting more than 30 French students, from middle school (sixth, fifth, fourth, third) to high school (second, first, terminale), towards academic success. My students obtained good averages, passed the certificate, the baccalaureate and the preparatory classes, while strengthening their self-confidence. My teaching method in 3 steps: Short term: Immediate improvement in average by assimilating the course and preparing for assessments. This includes assimilating the course, taking notes, practicing standard exercises, anticipating teachers' expectations and test questions, as well as acquiring writing methods. Medium term: Integration of reasoning and working methods. Your child will learn to work regularly in this order: assimilation, training exercises, preparation for assessments and analysis of results. Long term: Establishing clear goals, building the steps to achieve them, realizing the SIMPLICITY of mathematics, building confidence in your abilities and unlocking your child's potential. STARTS IN APRIL (availability is from March 31st onwards) If you are serious about writing poetry, or even just a serious poetry reader, then join me for a guide to the poetry of London, while also having the chance to work together on your own writing inspired by the wanderings we will take. A particular focus will be south of the river, the docklands, and the square mile (the old city of London). Explore the worlds of - and delve into - Shakespeare, William Blake, Arthur Rimbaud and others and investigate the liminal places of London that have inspired many London poets. I will also be able to support your writing in online classes. You may have written for a long time, or just be taking a first step to find a safe environment to share your work with someone else. Writing can be such an enriching practice (which may even transform your life), but this doesn't mean it is easy or fulfilling all the way. There are bumps and blocks and tensions... one great way through them is to start to build a community... a good place to start can be to find someone to guide the process of writing and finding ways to support your creativity. I can also signpost to places to go and can guide you to group opportunities and communities, whatever your means. This is best done as a series of classes to reflect and work on your own work. I am a published poet and fiction writer and have worked as a writing tutor for 5 years. I have an MA in Creative Writing and am studying towards a PhD. I work as a writing mentor for poets and writers from many different backgrounds.

Mounir
Mounir has been tutoring my daughter for a few months (French syllabus, 3eme - Brevet level). She loves the lessons and looks forward to their weekly Zoom meeting. Mounir easily builds a good rapport with his students and makes lessons interesting and fun, building confidence along the way. He is methodical and organised in his approach and makes sure to go over any aspects of the lessons which may have been less well covered in class, leaving the student with a solid grasp of the entire syllabus. He also recommended alternative revision cards and exercise books with corrections which my daughter finds much more user friendly than the ones provided at her school. Overall a very satisfactory experience and we would recommend Mounir without hesitation to anyone looking for an excellent maths tutor.

Polyglot specialist with 9 years of experience. German in speed mode. Level A1 to C2. No school teaching. (Mulhouse)
Kevin
Kevin is a genius, who is capable of breaking down complex concepts into manageable, useful bits. If you think of a really large basket of vegetables and fruits. You know all the nutrients are good for you, but it would be tedious to try to eat it all raw. But then, you get a juicer or blender or 'Nutribullet', and juice all those vegetables and fruits into a refreshing smoothie. You can then drink that smoothie as quickly or slowly as you wish, and still get all the necessary nutrients... That's what Kevin can do - he juices all the complex intricacies of the German language into something you can understand and digest. His methods are unconventional, but very helpful in laying a proper foundation for a successful language learning journey. Very highly recommended.
