I offer Spanish lessons on a one-to-one basis or small groups. With 20 years of experience as a private tutor, I will strive to ensure that you gain a better understanding and a deeper appreciation of the Spanish language. I provide extra support for those studying towards a teaching qualification such as GCSE or A level. The lessons are also for adult learners who want to develop their own language skills either in preparation for a holiday in a Spanish speaking country or for work purposes. I enjoy teaching Spanish at various levels as it allows me to develop my teaching approach as well as get to know different people and exchange views about Spanish language and culture. My approach involves structured learning and I prepare lessons that are tailored according to each student’s purpose and skills. All material will be provided and I make the lessons dynamic and interactive so you are always interested in learning more. Homework assignments will be given every week and I will monitor and review your progress. As everyone has unique needs and a certain pace, I will adapt my lessons accordingly. I teach Spanish, oral expression and comprehension, Spanish vocabulary and written comprehension, Spanish for GCSE, A level, adult education, A1, A2, B1, B2 (beginner, intermediate and upper-intermediate).

Trusted teacher: My name is Lucy and I live in West Sussex. I am fascinated by languages and communication and I have gained a wealth of experience in teaching and learning French, Spanish and English. In 2013 I achieved my Level 5 Trinity College London Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I have have 8 years of classroom and private tutoring experience. My expertise is grammar: I am very skilled in this area having spent a lot of time studying. I have also gained plenty of experience in helping students with their speaking and listening skills. I am qualified to teach adults and teenagers, and have also gained experience in providing foreign primary school children with an introduction to the English language. In 2017 I graduated with a 2:1 in French and Hispanic studies. In my third year at University I studied and worked abroad in Paris and Madrid. In Paris I was the English teacher of a small private school and I was in charge of designing the curriculum, teaching all the lessons, and creating an end of term assessment. In Madrid I was self employed and privately tutored several students with lessons tailored to their requirements. For example, one student wanted to improve conversation skills for her job as she was required to communicate with clients in the UK, so we focused on business conversation skills in English. In June 2020 I will qualify as a Secondary Teacher of French and Spanish, teaching up to A level (Key Stage 5). I am currently on a SCITT PGCE course (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) which means I have been in the classroom since September gaining plenty of experience teaching the languages. Before beginning my ITT (Initial Teacher Training) year, I completed a 6 month Subject Knowledge Enhancer which involved studying the different modules of the GCSE and A level syllabuses and preparing a presentation on teaching each module to a class. This course has helped me understand exactly what is expected of the students during Key Stages 4 and 5 and I received excellent feedback on my achievements.
