Trusted teacher: If- BY RUDYARD KIPLING (‘Brother Square-Toes’—Rewards and Fairies) If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’ If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son! n/a Source: A Choice of Kipling's Verse (1943)

Trusted teacher: Holder of a master's degree in anthropology and a bachelor's degree in human and social sciences, I passed the aggregation to give social sciences courses in upper secondary education. I had the opportunity to give courses during my university studies, particularly in sociology as part of a tutorship. I also had the opportunity to carry out a research internship in anthropology which resulted in a final dissertation. I therefore have some experience in academia, specializing in social sciences, sociology and anthropology. I also worked as an administrative employee for a university library, carrying out the inventory, sorting and management of books in the UCLouvain Fucam Mons library. I am also a member of heritage management for a church, and I have had the opportunity to lead numerous youth camps over the last few years. My methodology is above all flexible: I seek to adapt to my students' questions, to best meet their needs. To do this, I like to start the different sessions with questions and answers. Listening and a comprehensive approach are therefore privileged and I seek to be as available as possible for my students. It also seems important to me to take an interest in the school experience, as well as in the student. This will allow me to anchor the subject in what the student knows, and popularize the knowledge based on the student's interests. As a result, I attach enormous importance to sharing experience and knowledge, I seek to build knowledge and courses with students, starting from them. My lessons aim to allow you to understand the material, to answer these questions and to be able to use it in concrete situations. Thanks to my curriculum and my experiences in different school environments (primary, secondary, university), I know how to be versatile. I teach courses for secondary and higher level, and I can help with the writing of work, TFE or dissertations.

Trusted teacher: Ever wondered about life in Jamaica beyond the lights of Kingston’s allure? This class offers an ethnographic journey of practises and cultures in rural Jamaica, illustrated through photos, songs and videos. Let's explore life in rural Jamaica! Born and raised in a remote rural district/village, I will take you on an authentic journey of first hand experiences- reliving fond childhood memories, the stories my grandmother told me and what a typical day is like. This will be grounded in the history and culture of Jamaica. Coming from a background in diplomacy, sharing about Jamaica's culture and historical experiences has always been essential for opening the door to a deeper unerstanding. I have an avid interest in other cultures and always take the time to explore wherever I go. Having been to South and Central America, Asia, North America and Europe, I know the unique value of such rich experiences. Whenever I was home-sick while posted abroad, talking about my homeland was the only cure. I will share with you all there is about living in rural Jamaica, from different perspectives of my childhood, teenage years and adult life. One unique bit is that the district's enduring small farms form the centrepiece around which everything revolves. Come prepared with a curious mind, and if you want to make notes take your pen and paper or do so on your devices. It is important for me that your are learning, so I encourage you to ask questions. Let's go beyond Kington's enigma!

Arif
Our 7 year old son has had several lessons so far with Arif, and we have had a an excellent experience. We have been sharing the computer screen (using Zoom) with Arif as our son works through problems on Khan Academy. Arif has shown a lot of patience and a willingness to try and try again when our son is having trouble understanding a concept. The lessons have helped to motivate our son, and we are grateful to Arif for his help.
