As a docent or vocal coach I've collaborate with different academic institutions and private artistic projects, focusing mostly on international students or social integration programs. I have experience as a Music Teacher and Lecturer for schools and colleges, so I also offer help with GCSE and A-Level Music. I attend regular Safeguarding training and I have an advanced DBS on the update service. I also have experience working with children who have special educational needs and EHCP’s. Learning music and an instrument as well as being part of a group or ensemble, is about much more than becoming a performer. The skills and techniques learnt, are incredibly versatile for use in other subjects as well as being valuable life skills. My recommendation for learning the Oud is to begin by studying musical notes and notation before delving into songs. While some students prefer to jump straight into playing songs, understanding the fundamentals of music notation accelerates progress in the long run. Dedication and hard work can yield significant progress within a year, enabling you to play simple tunes. However, if you lack a passion for music or the instrument itself, I advise against pursuing it.
