Trusted teacher: I will offer your child guided reading assistance. Guided Reading will help your child develop reading proficiency, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. We will be using digital short stories in this lesson. For adults, I can also assistance you with reading , grammar and writing. Essay writing, creative writing and blog writing. Your child will be introduced to reading strategies: breaking words into parts, stretching sounds out, looking for smaller words within a word, finding the base word, adding ending and beginning sounds to help solve tricky words. * You will be introduced to a new story. We will do a book walk. This happens before reading. We look at the book title, cover and pictures in the story and make predictions about what the book will be about. * I will go over some of the challenging words that will be in the story to help make the text more familiar for you. * I will model how to read a sentence with a challenging word from the story, using a reading strategy. * Your child will take turns reading the story aloud, implementing reading strategies when needed with support from me. * Your child will answer several comprehension questions. Please see the list of example questions. Each set of questions will be unique and based on the story. * We will write a written response of a summary of the story. I will model writing, using paragraph formation. As a class we will write part of the summary together. I will then add some vocabulary words onto the screen to help students add some descriptive words to their writing. Students are then encouraged to add a couple more sentences on their own to the summary. Please have a piece of paper on hand for writing. * After writing, we will work on vocabulary from the story that we have read through a digital game.

About Me With over 10 years of experience in language education, I specialize in helping students excel in the TOEFL exam. My extensive background in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) has equipped me with the skills to guide learners from diverse backgrounds to achieve their highest potential. I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and am certified in TESOL. I know well that preparing for the TOEFL EXAMS can be challenging, especially when tackling it alone. My approach as a TOEFL tutor is all about providing the best quality teaching possible, coupled with genuine care and support. I'm passionate about helping my students achieve their dreams and academic goals. First thing first, you will get familiarized with the Test Format: academic passages that cover various subjects, such as science, history, and social studies of about 700 words long each and answer 10 questions per passage, Question Types: Practice with questions about factual information, inferences, vocabulary, sentence insertion, and overall summaries. what skills are tested, questions types, and the time length. Here’s What to Expect from my preparation when getting ready for the TOEFL : In the Reading Section, I help you build a strong foundation of how to understand and analyze academic texts by building reading comprehension skills such as: 1-Active Reading: how to engage with the text through note-taking and annotations, to learn to grasp main ideas and important details, to make inferences by improving your ability to read between the lines and understand implied meanings, to learn to deduce meanings from context 2-Skimming and Scanning: how to quickly identify key information. In the Writing Section I will help you on how best to communicate effectively in written English. The Writing Section consists of two tasks: the Integrated Writing Task and the Independent Writing Task. 1-Integrated Writing Task: requires combination of Skills: I help you explain the importance of identifying the relationship between the reading and the lecture (e.g., how they complement or contradict each other) summarizing the key points and synthesizing the information/explaining the relationship between them. Daria
Daria is - besides being a great person - an extremely capable teacher who adapts herself to the capabilities of her students. I've been learning Russian from her now for a few months already and I have nothing but compliments for our classes. The content of the lessons is adapted to what is most important to me and she has an exceptional knowledge of fun facts/history about Russia and the language which continue to make it interesting and engaging. I would advise her to everyone who wants to learn Russian, be it from English or Dutch! :-)
