Violin/Viola for amateurs of all ages to young conservatory candidates

Music is one of the most joyous things in life and if there is one thing that I like more than performing it is teaching!

With me you will learn how to play violin/viola and study your favourite pieces either classical, jazz or any style you want to learn. Alongside how to play violin or viola we will also study basic music theory and you will be able to comprehend all the information on a sheet of music.

I have also studied piano in my conservatory years and I can teach a good basic level for you to play your favourite songs. These lessons would also help you to play what you learn in the supplementary theory lessons such as chord symbols.

I would love to share my knowledge with you and assist you in learning to play these beautiful instruments so dont hesitate to book a lesson with me!

Extra information

You could bring the music that you would like to play and we could work on that together. It is also possible to work on a goal that you would like to achieve such as getting ready for auditions. I can also teach the basics of harmony and we can analyze pieces together.

About Me

Hello!

I'm Joshua and I am an altviool/viool player. I have come to the Netherlands a few years ago to have a musical career here. I chose this country because I have been here as a tourist a few times and I absolutely loved the Dutch experience!

I want to teach because I believe sharing music is a wonderful thing and I love to see the shine in a person's eyes when they feel the joy of music or playing an instrument or the moment of understanding the solution of a tricky thing that the person has to do(including my self). I also believe teaching keeps a musician fresh and full of creativity! These are my greatest motivations for teaching.

I am currently studying for my second bachelor's in music at ArtEZ and I have finished another one in Istanbul at Marmara University. I also play viool when it is necessary because in principle it is the same with altviool

If you would like to see my CV, please do not hesitate to ask!

All the best and thank you,
Joshua

Raphael
Violin lessons, music theory, musical improvisation, chamber music
With 27 years of experience as a violin teacher, artist and composer, I transmit my love of music in a creative, playful and holistic way. I have developed a method that adapts to each student according to their needs, levels and desires. I attach great importance to creating a caring and relaxed atmosphere where the student can flourish and develop both a solid technique and learn self-confidence. We will also discuss how to work efficiently and calmly and we will develop the qualities necessary to express yourself freely with your instrument. We will talk about musicality, physical well-being (the importance of breathing!), attentive listening and we will take the time to explore while having fun. If necessary, the basics of music theory will be learned gradually. Although I have a classical background I enjoy teaching a variety of music (Celtic, folk, klezmer, tango, jazz, films...) and I encourage my students to discover the most beautiful melodies in the repertoire and sometimes even to improvise or compose together. I often play chamber music (piano/violin) or violin duets with my students. My course is aimed at anyone who has the time to work on their instrument, children from 4 or 5 years old, adolescents, seasoned amateurs, beginners or advanced adults... Do not hesitate to contact me for any additional information. I look forward to meeting you very soon!

Master the Basics of Violin: Build Strong Foundations for Freedom in Playing
Professional lessons in London for beginners and intermediate players of all ages. Hi, I’m Eleazar, and I’m here to help you discover (or rediscover) the art of playing the violin. My course focuses on building strong foundational skills and mastering the basics, essential for anyone starting out or looking to solidify their technique. My goal is to help you build the strong technical foundations that lead to freedom and joy in playing the violin while keeping the learning process fun and engaging. Whether you’re a beginner or an intermediate player, my lessons are designed to guide you through mastering the basics so that you can ultimately play with confidence and ease. What makes my teaching unique? 🎻 A Fresh Perspective on Violin Technique I had the privilege of studying with world-renowned violinist Zakhar Bron, and at the age of 21, I had to completely rework my violin technique. Because I learned it later in life, I can break down the essentials and explain them in a way that’s easy to understand—something most violinists, who learned their technique as young children, often struggle to do. Together, we’ll build the foundations that will allow you to play freely, rather than feeling restricted by technique. 🌍 Multilingual Lessons I’m a native French speaker and fluent in both Spanish and English. You can choose the language you’re most comfortable with, so we can focus entirely on making progress with your playing. 📍 Flexible Lessons in London or Online I offer lessons in person here in London, but I’m also available online if that suits your schedule better. My goal is to make violin lessons accessible, convenient, and enjoyable for everyone. 🎯 Tailored for Beginners and Intermediate Students My lessons are specifically designed to help you build a solid technical foundation, develop your sound so you can truly play freely and express yourself. You’ll leave each session feeling accomplished and confident. Slogan: "Build your foundation. Play with freedom. Enjoy the music."

Viola
Learn how to play the violin or the viola and how to read music
Feeling good with your body and listening to it, understanding where the sound comes from and how to produce it, learning the basics and how to read the notes and the score, learning tricks and daily exercises without the instrument to help you develop your agility and muscles, playing together duets to get closer to the chamber music world and to learn how to listen and collaborate with others. I think it's important to listen also to the student's requests and desires; if you have a tune or a piece that you would love to play we can work on it together. Folk music is also an interesting way through which we can get closer to the instrument and the music world, playing traditional dances from different countries and discovering different music languages. As every person has his own physiognomy and musculature, we will try to find together a correct and comfortable posture that better suits the student to create a connection with the instrument. Warming-up and taking care of our body is part of a musician's life (beginner, amateur or professional) and it is important to prevent injuries and muscle pain. Unfortunately this aspect is not often taken into account and for this reason I aim to transmit this value to my students.
