I am a professional pianist from Taiwan, with more than 10 years of teaching experience. I graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK with a master's degree in piano performance and an advanced postgraduate artist diploma (both with scholarship and graduated with distinction). I have participated in masterclasses with many leading pianists, gained lots of awards in competitions, and had several concert performances around Europe and Asia. My teaching experience spans over several years, in the UK, Taiwan, and Shanghai, both in a piano school as well as individually. I have helped my students prepare for the ABRSM exam (and pass it with Distinction), as well as attending competitions or performing in concerts. I am happy to teach students of all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced. My lessons include ear training, sight-reading, music theory, music history, depending on the interest and ability of the student. I am patient, yet passionate about music, and enjoy sharing its joy and beauty with everyone. I am willing to travel to students' places and happy to accommodate your needs. Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else. For some people there is only one way to tackle the unmentionable but I believe there are many different approaches and one of them will click with you. It is simply finding out what is best for each person. Once we find the key we can unlock the problems that have puzzled you for ages. Music theory needs to be more than a requirement, it needs to be the way to really appreciate the music you are playing. Certain aspects can also lead to additional practical skills such as improvisation which can be very useful as well as very enjoyable. Solfeggio is a next step of Music Theory discipline. It will imporve your aural skills (ear training), pitch and sight-reading which is the only way to continue to learn music. Aural skill is very important for every musician to understand and to "feel" the music. It will let the musician to play with other musicians, to hear each other and to play music together. After completeing this course, you will be ready to learn Music Harmony and then as a next step you will be ready to lean Instrumentation, Arrangement, Music Composition, e.t.c.

Learning to play an instrument is an amazing skill to possess! I have been playing guitar for 12 years now and piano for 2 years. Playing instrument provides me with a hobby that is equal parts calming and fun, it brings joy to me and to others. It is best to start learning music at a young age however, it is never too late to pick up a new skill! I myself have recently tried learning the cello and it is exciting to say the least. I have many years experience tutoring and teaching both academically and musically. I have taught ages 4-15 years old in the past as well as having many years experience in customer service.
