Fun Guitar Lessons for beginners and explorers alike!
The guitar is a fun and social instrument and I believe everybody can learn how to play it! Using two guitars - one for the student and one for the teacher - we will go through some chords, basic finger exercises, strumming techniques and other little tricks. I am confident you will be playing a couple of your favourite songs in no time!
We may use the occasional tabliature, but most of the lesson will be focused on listening, playing and repeating; and it will be fun :-)
Please note: I specifically do not teach with notations or scores of any sort.
My method of teaching is based on playing by ear, with emphasis on the music and the joy in playing it, rather than the theory. Notation is great and theory is important - I studied these myself; however, I have found that learning an instrument by ear is a far deeper, enjoyable and progressive way to get to know your instrument. I also place importance on technique and memorization, again tailoring these to the needs and wishes of the student. My methods have proven very successful and I'm confident your playing will improve quickly!
I teach both children and adults, teenagers and grandparents :-)
Maybe you already play, but would like some help improving your improvisational skills? Or perhaps you are a complete beginner and just want to find out, if this instrument is for you? Get in touch!
Some background to my instruments:
Piano: I initially taught myself the piano and took lessons later on. My main or favourite styles on the piano are: Blues & Boogie Woogie, Traditional Jazz, Rock n' Roll, Pop and Soul. I love many forms of Classical music as well.
Guitar: I taught myself guitar as a kid and play both acoustic and electric. My favourite styles on the guitar are, on the one hand, heavy Rock, Metal and Punk, and on the other gentle Jazz, Blues and ballads :-)
Drums: this became my main gigging instrument between '10 and '20. I mostly focus on funky grooves, hard Rock or Metal, Pop, Jazz, Swing; some rudiments, lots of grooves :-)

About Me
I'm Mike, a Swedish musician born and raised in Zurich, specializing in Piano, Guitar and Drums. I have been playing the piano and the guitar from an early age and started teaching back in 2000. Between 2008 and 2020 I lived in Brighton, UK, where I played in countless Rock, Pop, Jazz and Metal bands, mostly as a drummer. I started teaching drums in 2018.I completed my IB (Gymnasium) music programme in '98 and my BA diploma in Music from Roehampton University in 2002; however, my strength is as a self-taught musician, learning and teaching by ear - I do not use any notes! - and encouraging the student to hear and feel the music. This is a wonderful and very progressive way to learn, it boosts creativity and helps you apply your skills to all kinds of music. My lessons have proven to be very successful and lots of fun, both for kids and adults, complete beginners or those who wish to further their interpretative skills.
I have been back in Switzerland since 2020 and quickly established my teaching project, "Alternative Piano, Guitar and Drum Lessons" . Aside from that, I run a musical theatre project for children with my partner ("SongCamp"), play as a session pianist and work as a studio producer.

Have fun learning how to play the drums!
There are few things in life as fun and liberating as playing the drums! This instrument is at once basic and primitive, as well as highly complex - a wonderful exercise for body and mind!
I teach drums in a fun, laid-back and casual way, always structuring my lessons around the students' needs and tastes. Please note: I specifically do not teach with notations or scores of any sort:

Classical guitar and music theory lessons by a qualified teacher from the ConservatoryWhether you are an adult or younger, did you know that with the proper methods, follow-up and advice, you can reach in 2 years the equivalent of what is achieved in 10 years in music school? The passion and pleasure of playing will quickly make you forget the minimum 1h30 of daily practice necessary for this beautiful and pleasant feat. This is the challenge I set myself by offering you these courses.
Practicing classical guitar for 27 years, graduated from the National Conservatory of Limoges, I teach guitar (beginner to advanced levels).
My method is distinguished by a perfect combination of high standards and attention paid to the pleasure of playing.
Passionate about music theory (rhythms, musical notations and other aspects that seem tedious to many), I know how to transmit this taste for musical technique.
The pleasure of play develops when you feel your progress, and these come with regular work. I therefore ask for attendance and regularity of at least 1 hour of practice per day. Depending on the students, the frequency of lessons can be bi-weekly or bi-monthly, and will be defined together, while remaining flexible.
I can also advise you on the purchase of a classical guitar.
Note: the practice of the classical guitar requires short nails on the left hand, and nails overflowing just beyond the tip of the finger, on the right hand, at all times. This allows an inimitable sound quality.

Follow up by email/phone as needed between lessons.
Examples of pieces you will be able to play after a year: works by Bach, Giuliani, Fernando Sor, Carcassi, Aguado, Jeux Interdits, baroque flamenco, romantic works

Music - Guitar and musical knowledge: music theory, harmony and styleGuitar lessons: the mandate of guitar teacher is defined by the fact of being methodical, that is to say having an exact knowledge of the specifications: practice of playing with both hands, musical reading, knowledge of music theory , harmony... so many criteria which also participate in an encounter, that between the person who proposes and the one who wishes to emancipate themselves through an instrument specific to individual expression.

Flamenco & Blues guitar teacher in Zürich for all agesI‘m 24 years old man from Slovenia. I‘ve been playing guitar for almost 10 years now, I compose and dive deep into the and art of it. I‘m very interested in teaching and seeing how a person is developing it’s skills once they dedicate themselves to the subject. My approach is very precise and if one desires so, I‘ll teach from total basics as reading the notes and other music theory or we can also work from tabs.
I lived in Spain, Granada for some time where I‘ve been to the fountain and the roots of flamenco itself and became more familiar with it. I studied art pedagogy when I was in university in Slovenia, where I learned some pedagogy basics, but I think a teacher has to see beyond the frame and find it‘s own way of passing the knowledge. I speak spanish, english, croation and Slovenian fluently and I speak some basic German and Italian, but I started to work more seriously on both of them.
I teach at my home, but offer webcam lessons and also can come to student‘s house but charge additional costs for travel.

More about my classes
My guitar teaching model is based on books and the approach of guitarist and pedagogue Abel Carlevaro.
In some way, it is about understanding and analyzing the nature of the movements we make to play the guitar in the simplest way possible.
Just as to build a building you need a good foundation, to build a system of skills that allows us to be musicians, we need to know and practice in a conscious way all the movements we do. These movements are what we do when we play just one open string or what we need to do to play the most difficult piece of the repertoire.
I pay special attention to achieve a good balance in teaching. I try to make the student develop at the same time the techniques to play the guitar and the artistic sensibility needed to make music. Because no matter the technical level of the student, my classes will always be oriented to making music and to be able to enjoy the processes that the musical activity involves. A simple guitar piece takes on another dimension if the basic principles of musical interpretation are applied.
After getting to know and listening to how my students play I propose a short and medium term work plan. This plan is presented taking into account the objectives and wishes of each student. Exercises and pieces are included that will also allow to know the repertoire of the guitar. Therefore, each work plan includes specific and general contents.

PLACES :
- Locations: Geneva-Lausanne-Friborg-Neuchâtel-Montreux-Bâle-Sion-Sierre-Morges-Bienne. But currently, only by videoconference in accordance with national recommendations on Covid. These sessions also seem to be perfectly unanimous since they have the advantages of direct (example: quality of the interaction), without its disadvantages (ex: loss of travel time), with additional advantages (ex: of notes on the chat, which can be reread afterwards). In this context, these videoconference sessions for which you have requested me, seem to arouse a certain enthusiasm (and a certain enthusiasm). At your request, I therefore continue to offer them.
