Introduction to the basics of sound engineering and recording

You will learn from me how to compose electronic music and produce tracks yourself. From the introduction to the world of electronic music production to advanced sound design tips, mixing and mastering, I can cater to your personal needs and goals and impart knowledge. I teach in Ableton Live. I can adapt my teaching style to the understanding of my students and respond to their needs. It is also important to me to create a positive and pleasant teaching atmosphere. In my lessons, students can benefit from my experience as a music producer, sound designer and DJ. Education: In the summer of 2022 I completed my Masters in Audio Design at the Musikakademie Basel. Before that I did my Bachelor in Audio Design (Composition / Music Theory) at the same place.

With six years of self taught production and industry knowledge under my belt, I've been fortunate enough to play clubs, festivals, and international shows with my music, and have released music on a wide expanse of award winning electronic labels, such as Low Down Deep, Billegal Beats, Kingdom Audio, in the Lab Recordings, and more. Hello All ! My name is Mario. I am a pianist, composer, producer based in Bruxelles . I have a long experience as a Jazz pianist, keyboardist and arranger and I played in a lot of different bands . In the last ten years I spent a lot of time producing electronic music and I developed my solo and other projects as a mix of jazz, electronic and neoclassical music. Getting going with music making can be an overwhelming thing, but it doesn't need to be! Whether you're a complete beginner looking to start making your first few tracks, a music producer trying to expand your theory and composition abilities, or a composer attempting to dive into the world of audio production, these classes will be tailor made to support your needs and develop your abilities. I have a Bachelor's Degree in instrumental music composition from the University of Manchester, and a Master's Degree in creative music production from Catalyst Berlin, as well as over 10 years experience in both instrumental and electronic composition, audio production and music industry involvement.

Composing your own music has always been a very rewarding task. This has never been so true as the present day when you can hear what you compose instantly by using computers to generate and play back your own music. However, to ensure that your music sounds really great there are many principles to be considered. I have had a great interest in composing for over 40 years, composing in a wide variety of styles. Having been a music teacher in a comprehensive school for over 30 years, I have had a lot of very relevant experience in teaching composition to a wide range of different ages and abilities. The class will be personalized to your particular standard and chosen style of composition. If you are a complete novice and have not used computers to create music we can use a web-based programme or a free downloadable programme. On the other hand, if you are familiar with a particular programme that you have installed on your computer we can work through screen sharing and sound sharing to enhance your compositions using my experience. I will tailor-make the class to suit you.

My lessons are aimed at teaching a method that can allow student's autonomy in using Max/MSP programming language and the Gen/Gen~ environment. The neophyte can benefit from a practical method, which focuses on the constant exchange between theory and practice; the advanced student will benefit from the refinements of their practice in patch design. Ideally, the student will be able to be independent in some months. Students can expect partial covering of DSP topics for music. If needed, a specific lesson can be requested. Students are invited to present their works and patches, and can expect to discuss them in detail. Students are expected to be present for each scheduled class, not late, and to avoid a rude or disrespectful behavior. DISCLAIMER I am learning Dutch as for September 2024. As you can understand, I am not able to sustain a lesson in Dutch. So, for the moment, only in English or Italian...
