Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me. Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. My name is Miriam, I am a graduate in Master of Classical Music at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent and currently I am studying a Posgraduate in Musical Performance Practice. I've been teaching cello to children, teenagers and adults for 10 years, so I've acquired the necessary experience to be able to adapt to the different and personal needs and objectives of each student. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher. My teaching method is scrupulously adapted to each student I have, regardless of the subject to work on (musical language, cello, music history, analysis, conducting, etc.) I always apply the Belgian teaching model, where I trained with my master's degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). According to this model, the main thing is a living and practical teaching, taking understanding and not memory as the main learning engine.

Together we can develop your skill as a cello player, building a strong technical and musical foundation. We will find a learning style that best suits you. We can study the cello repertoire and traditional techniques and we can also explore the cello in less traditional ways - improvising, writing music, using electronics and combining it with other instruments.

Hi my name is Osian and I’m a cellist from South Wales. I’ve taught children of many ages and standards and I really feel privileged to be a part of someone’s musical and personal development. Music lessons can be a way of reaching the concert platform or it could be a way of expressing yourself and being creative, wether it’s a career path or not. I grew up playing and singing where my first priority was to fall in love with music and learn to perform it to the best standard that I could do and that’s what I’d like to encourage my students to aim for too. I’m a BMus Hons Scholar from The Royal Academy of Music and I’m not studying at a masters lever at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Hello, my name is Anna, and I’ve been playing the cello for 22 years. I have a masters degree both in performative arts and teaching cello from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. I have acquired a wide range of tools to inspire my pupils individually in their step-by-step development. I teach learners of all ages and levels, my students are 5-60 years old, from beginner to advanced. When I was 15, my cello teacher asked me to teach her younger pupils. I was enthusiastic of teaching, and I still have the same enthusiasm, but much more knowledge and experience. Playing the cello makes you beautiful both inside and outside! While playing the cello, I pay attention to the music, my technique, my body and my emotions. I focus on the same aspects while teaching, so we will improve your musical and technical abilities, as well as your awareness of your own body and emotions.
