I have been playing classical piano for 14 years. Obviously a lot solo, but also in ensembles, as an accompanist for flutists, violinists, clarinetists and singers. I was also a paid rehearsal director and pianist for a music theater company for a while and I played concerts in an orchestra. More importantly, I also enjoy teaching! Whether you are just starting out or have been working for some time, together we can tinker with your technique and execution.

The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject. Each student has different needs and different abilities. It's just a matter of getting to know the student, in order to identify both the weaknesses and strengths on which to work.

I love teaching guitar, and I am good at it. Learning music is similar to learning a language. We learn by imitating the sounds that we hear. During this stage, I also incorporate proper technique; how the instrument should be held and how the strings should be strummed or plucked. Once the sound is adequately imitated, we look at influences and start developing vocabulary. Finally, I want to ensure the student can replicate these precise sounds. Guitar is one of the most played instruments in the world, and for good reason! Guitar is versatile, full of different sounds, easy to start with and progress well. Unlike the piano, a guitar works with patterns, which can help you make and understand music in countless ways. In my lessons I aim to help and guide beginning and intermediate guitarists in this area. From your first notes and chord to complex theory and writing and performing your own music. I will be by your side to help you become the guitarist, and especially the musician, that you want to be. I am flexible in what *you* would like to learn and need help with, but I also offer a structured learning path (containing a mix of: technique, guiding, soloing, music by ear, reading music, theory, getting to know your fretboard etc. etc.) for students who would benefit from it. As a musician myself, I have experience with performing, analyzing, writing and of course learning music. Music lessons started from primary school, up to HAVO music exams and I am currently auditioning for the HBO music teacher training course. I have performed solo, with a choir and in bands.

I offer a holistic, well-rounded music education for all ages and abilities. The training I provide is tailored towards the students personal learning objectives and goals, some of these include solo performance, improvisation, playing in an ensemble and composition. My approach combines conventional and alternative teaching methods, such as reading music, playing by ear, solfeggio, the suzuki method and mindfulness. The three aspects I prioritize in my lessons are imagination, experimentation and creativity. My method focuses on understanding and expanding the students' musical capacities by means of an integrative approach that includes physical training, technique and comprehension.

Learning to play the instrument is an opportunity to enter the world of music and become a musician. More importantly, you learn the joy of creating music by yourself. I invite beginners as well as children or adults who have already had some experiences with playing and want to develope their skills. I invite beginners, children and adults, as well as experienced players, to develop their skills. I also offer lessons for duos or trios – two or three different recorders, flute and piano or guitar, or two flutes. In this case, we focus on the skills needed for ensemble playing and less on individual technique, so this option is not for absolute beginners. The cost per person for ensemble lessons will be lower. How does a lesson with me look like? It depends on your level and what we focus on, but we will certainly do some preparatory exercises. You will present what you have been preparing since last time, and we will work on some details. If there is time, we shall then try something new. We can also play duos together. A lesson last about an hour, or 45 minutes for younger pupils. I can adjust the repertoire to your preferences, to your needs and to your level, but I shall also encourage you to learn some new and unfamiliar styles. I like to use notated music in the process of learning, so that in the future you will feel comfortable about reading music, but we can also sometimes improvise, or play something you remember without notation. Along the way, you will learn some music theory, which is necessary part of becoming a musician. I also offer music theory lessons alone, if you wish.
