CELLO LESSONS UTRECHT - professional cello teacher

Hello! I am Irene, a graduated Master student at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium, and I offer cello lessons to people of all ages, both online and in person. I have more than 7 years of experience teaching both adults and children, in private lessons, group lessons and music schools. I have also taught music theory and piano to beginners. The lessons could work in different ways: regular lessons every one or two weeks, or just a couple of times, etc. I have had students that only wanted to learn a bit, and I also have students that have continued for some years with me. I could also adjust the duration of the lessons from 30mins (especially for younger kids) to 1h. The lessons can be in English and Spanish, and now also in Nederlands! (work in progress!) The lesson can be in the student's home or in my studio in Vogelenbuurt, and also online! Flexible hours. I have been playing classical piano for 14 years. Obviously a lot solo, but also in ensembles, as an accompanist for flutists, violinists, clarinetists and singers. I was also a paid rehearsal director and pianist for a music theater company for a while and I played concerts in an orchestra. More importantly, I also enjoy teaching! Whether you are just starting out or have been working for some time, together we can tinker with your technique and execution.

The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject. Each student has different needs and different abilities. It's just a matter of getting to know the student, in order to identify both the weaknesses and strengths on which to work.

My name is Wilma, and I have been playing the cello for most of my life. I am passionate about teaching, and have a lot of experience with it. In my lessons, there is a good balance between technique and musicality. Knowing how to (technically) play the cello is important for being able to express yourself on it, and making beautiful music is the reason we play! I involve my students in the process of investigating problems and experimenting with solutions. This gives people a better understanding of the challenges, and motivates them to engage with those. It is particularly interesting that every person has a different way of learning and different needs, and I enjoy tailoring my approach to each student's personality, requirements and tastes, so she or he can optimally learn. Above all, I love inspiring people, seeing them discover their own aptitude for music and growing as musicians. Playing the cello is a wonderful and fun experience and I heartily welcome anyone who would like to come on this adventure! I teach in Amsterdam on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, in Zaandam in Thursdays, and in Utrecht on Saturdays.

Studies include conservatory (piano and organ) and Music Sciences at Utrecht University and Amsterdam.

Singing lessons for all levels and age. For beginners, together we can discover the range of your voice and build the breathing and singing technique. At the same time we will work on music theory, ear training and how to read a score. For mature singers, we can delve into the singing technique and interpretation and add pieces in your repertoire. The lessons are provided both online and in person and can be held in English or Greek. I also speak some Italian and German. About me I have been playing the piano for 15 years. I have studied Classical Singing in the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata (Greece) and I have followed a two-year Early Music Programme in Athens Conservatoire. At the same time I studied Music Theory (Harmony) at the Greek National Conservatoire from which I gained my Harmony degree. In addition, I have a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Here in The Netherlands, I finished my masters at the Utrechts Conservatorium and worked as a singer at the NKK NXT 2022-2023. I have participated in Operas (“Julius Cesar”- 2015 in Athens Concert Hall and “Alcina”-2019 in Odeon of Herodes Atticus) as a member of a vocal ensemble and I have also performed as a soloist in many concerts. Some of the stages I have performed are: Concertgebouw Amsterdam, TivoliVredenburg, Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg, Athens Concert Hall, Greek National Opera and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

Voor wie zijn de lessen? Onze saxofoonlessen zijn voor iedereen vanaf 8 jaar en ouder. De saxofoon is ergonomisch en gemakkelijk om je eerste noten te produceren, zodat je al snel plezier zult hebben in je eerste lessen. Of je nu een beginner bent die de basis wil leren, een gevorderde speler die zijn techniek wil verbeteren, of iemand die wil improviseren en samen muziek wil maken, de lessen worden op maat gemaakt om aan jouw wensen te voldoen! Saxles! De saxofoon, uitgevonden door Adolphe Sax, is een uniek instrument dat de warme en krachtige klanken van koper- en houtblazers combineert. Dankzij zijn veelzijdigheid voelt de saxofoon zich thuis in allerlei muziekstijlen, van blues tot klassiek. We spelen de muziek die jij leuk vindt, terwijl we ook werken aan belangrijke basisvaardigheden, een goede techniek en zelfs het verkennen van improvisatie. Plezier en creativiteit staan voorop! Hi, I am Mario. I am 20 years old and I am currently finishing my bachelor degree in classical violin at Utrecht Conservatory. I come from a family of musicians and I started playing the violin when I was 4 years old. The classes will be adapted to the student's level. I have received an ABRSM teaching diploma and therefore successfully completed the course to teach students from beginners- advanced. I'm a very patient and positive person and always try to encourage and support my students.

My goal as a music teacher is to make the students able to experience all types of emotions by playing music, understanding the musical process from its roots with a creative approach. My lessons are designed according to the specific needs of each student and the main objective is to guide them in the optimal direction to achieve their full potential in a fun way. Thereby, the instrument becomes a tool to understand what making music really means and will be a way for the student to express his emotions. My approach to the lessons can provide a lot of creativity, fun and originality. How will my lessons look like From the first lesson, the student will start making music. We will begin learning the basic concepts of music, developing listening and rhythmic skills with fun exercises. Lessons will also be focused on learning the basics of music theory, creating a solid technical base and paying special attention to having a relaxed and healthy body posture. My academic and professional experience has helped me create a teaching method where improvisation is an essential tool for the student. I enjoy working on it from the beginning since it is a perfect way to develop musicality. Playing different music genres together As a musician, another of my sources of inspiration is to get to know and to learn from different styles, playing and experimenting with music from the classical period until the most avant-garde style. During the lessons, we will play pop, jazz, classical and many other styles. I would like to explore the instrument with the student in a fun way, growing, improving, and discovering new ways of making music together. During the lessons the students and I could play together, either playing some duos with the cello or accompanying them with the piano, which is an activity that I really enjoy. Playing together with more people and with a polyphonic instrument from the beginning will give the student clues to learn how to play in ensembles and listen to all the different voices that can be part of any musical composition.
