Music History, Opera Studies, Music Editing and Musicology; Artistic Development for opera singers
Hi all.
I am a musicologist, music editor and opera specialist with 15+ years experience in casting, season planning, YAP design and artistic development in the field of opera, as well as university-level teaching experience and academic publications. I am currently residing in Taiwan under the Employment Gold Card programme, looking for local talent to develop either on an individual basis or with a local institution. Knowing Taiwan very well, I have always wondered why there are so few internationally renowned Taiwanese classical musicians. Let's try and change that situation ! Make me believe in your potential !
I am open to discuss artistic development programmes for upcoming Taiwanese opera singers, and to organise YAP, masterclasses and promotional events for Taiwanese institutions and universities. I can prepare detailed artistic development plans for individual artists and place recommendations with international organizations.
I have a large network of international contacts which I can use to promote young Taiwanese artists abroad.
I am open to take on editorial projects and international promotional activities for Taiwanese composers.
I am open to work as a research advisor for postgraduate students in Musicology.
I teach intermediate to advanced topics in my fields of expertise, including Opera Studies, Music Palaeography, Editorial Method, Source Studies and European Music History and Analysis.
I am also open to suggestions for teaching or promotional activities according to the specific needs of individual artists, teachers, universities or institutions. Simply let me know what you need and we'll take it from there.
==> Be clear about your professional goals. Embarking on a PhD in performance is NOT the preferred road towards becoming a successful international artist.
While I do teach music analysis, I do not dabble in "Music Theory" as taught at many US universities and colleges. Stuff such as Schenkerian analysis that was all the rage in the US some decades ago is an intellectual desert based on a nonsensical proposition of musical universality, with nothing to offer the young aspiring professional performer.
Currently I teach and interact in English. I also have professional command of Italian, Japanese, French, Spanish and German. In the past I have taught advanced courses in English, Italian and Japanese. I am able to read Chinese, but I currently do not speak beyond the basics (A2). I may code switch between English and Italian, especially when discussing opera topics and while directing or auditioning singers.
I expect students to know music notation and to be able to read vocal and orchestral scores. I will help you with the more advanced technical terminology.

Ricardo
Singing (Classical and Contemporary), QTS certified TeacherHello, my name is Ricardo and I'm a Portuguese professional opera singer and singing teacher based in London. I trained at the University of Aveiro (2010; BMus & MEdu Vocal Performance and Tuition w/ Distinction) and at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (2011; MMus in Performance w/ Merit). I'm a certified singing teacher and would love to help you! I teach singing to any age range and in a variety of styles: Classical, Contemporary/Musical Theatre. I teach either at my home in Wimbledon or at the student's home. I'm happy to travel within the London metropolitan area but will adjust the price of the lessons according to the travel costs I incur. My schedule is very flexible and the lessons are to be arranged with the student on a weekly basis. My singing students will be prepared to undertake any endeavour they want to in the music world: I can prepare them to sing for fun for family gatherings, Conservatoire access, ABRSM exams or to sing professionally. I've also had great success with Skype/Facetime singing lessons. These are charged at the same price as live lessons and the date and time are to be arranged between me and the student. My Message to you: My singing teaching is based in objective physical information which you can replicate, memorise and follow. My main goal is to help you build a healthy muscle memory for singing which you can then put to the service of Art. I believe a great technical foundation is at the core of Artistic Creation and a Vocal Technique is the toolbox from where you draw what you need in order to express yourself. Having built my own voice from scratch, I know how to put the puzzle of Singing together and will support you to achieve the same. I'm an honest supportive teacher and I will make sure we enjoy our time working together.

Marion
Learn and enjoy how to sing like a true opera singer!I believe everyone can sing, and it is one of the most extraordinary and fun things to do!
Hello everyone!
My name is Marion and I come from France. I have been a musician for as long as I can remember. I started when I was a kid as a trumpet player. I played in many different kinds of orchestras and had a lot of fun with this instrument, but it was nothing compare to my love for singing! This is why I decided to become a professional opera singer and I want to share my passion about singing!
What do I offer?
Classical singing lessons for all levels with a focus on opera, songs, oratorio and choir repertoire.
I am based in Utrecht. You are welcome to come to my place, but I can also come to the students.
Lessons can be taught in English or in French, but I also speak a little bit of Dutch.
What will you learn?
The fundamental elements of classical singing such as breathing, posture and resonances for example but also styles, pronunciation, interpretation and repertoire. An important aspect I want to approach in a singing lesson is how to help you find your own voice, both in a technical and in an interpretative sense.
I can also guide you with anything solfège related like how to use and read a score or how to learn a song by heart.
What is my philosophy about singing and pedagogy?
I believe the best way to develop and improve a skill is when the students feel that they are in a safe place where they can dare to experiment but also have fun. This is an essential part of the process of music making and I try to bring fun and enjoyment to every lesson!
I hope we will be in touch soon for a lesson.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I will be happy to have a chat with you!
I look forward to meeting you!
About me:
I started my musical studies in my home country in France, at the Conservatoire de Caen and the Conservatoire de Rennes before coming to The Netherlands where I finished my
voice bachelor’s degree at Het Conservatorium van Amsterdam in June 2018.

I performed the role of Tigrane in Händel’s Radamisto, The Countess of
Dunmow in Berkeley’s A Dinner Engagement, Arsace in Graun’s Cesare and Cleopatra and Fiordiligi in Mozart's Così fan tutte.
Nowadays, I am a freelance soprano working in the Netherlands and in Belgium as a soloist and as a choir singer. I often participate in productions with the choir of the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Antwerp or the Groot Omroepkoor in Hilversum.

Singing lessons with an italian lyric-coloratura soprano. From opera to modern and pop. (Masters degree in singing with honours, cum Laude)My classes are different depending on your level and age.
With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs.
With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing.
For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing.
I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!
