Two worlds I was born within two worlds, the East and the West; the folklore music of central Greece and the classical one. A major factor in the formation of my musicality comes from the tight relation of my family with Greek traditional music. However, music of any kind was always welcome at my home. Inspired by my father who is also a singer, I got involved in choir singing and started piano lessons. Opting for singing was a choice that gave me the freedom to express my mind. R’n’B & Latin At my first piano lessons, I realised how music is put on paper and the importance of it. At about the same time I started singing in the school choir of my secondary school and I kept being between the lead voices of the high school choir. That was the point where I practiced the different voice harmonies and got over my teenage reluctance by singing in front of the public. At the sweet age of 14, I developed a special interest in R’n’B and soul music. Later on, I got involved in the pop and rock scene but suddenly, Latin jazz music attracted my interest. One of the reasons I fell in love with Latin music is because I feel that each emotion is manifested at its maximum glory. Latin music is a mixture of cultures and backgrounds; it is the fusion of European harmony brought to the colonies with African rhythms like Cuban music was brought to New York. Singing as a vocal discovery I consider myself a people’s person. When teaching I have the need to welcome the student into a safe environment of acceptance where music can happen. In order for the student to let go of personal timidness, mutual trust comes with time yet is necessary. I prioritise my students’ needs; teach them the technical aspects they should know so as to develop a healthy instrument but also coach them so that they develop their taste in music. Because I have been singing various styles through my career, I believe I am quite a chameleon of styles (Latin, Brazilian, Jazz, Pop, Greek). In my lessons I find helpful to use some mini percussion so that the singer can establish an internal metronome. I am very supportive with each individuals’ needs and goals, that is why I always make a personal profile of my students and their progress and also ask them to design their personal dream board. All in all, I always use a combo of methods and adapt at the personal needs of the student. Singing for me is always a vocal discovery and this is what I would like to help my students achieve. The essential idea is to develop a healthy instrument with which you can express through the good and bad days. I have been studying with different teachers around the Netherlands (Codarts alumni) and Greece and during this time I have realised that learning can happen anywhere and anytime.

Aspiring musicians with a background in any genre can take advantage of this course. A formal education in music or experience with electronic music composition are not required to follow. However, you should be unafraid of experimenting with sound and music technology! Each class is customized to meet the needs of the individual student in an innovative and flexible way! The course can also serve as a preparation for applying to several Dutch educational programmes related to electronic music composition (Institute of Sonology, HKU, ArtEZ, etc.). The class is focused on small assignments that help the student develop a sense of orientation and set goals. Recording, editing, and mixing will be done via the DAW "Reaper," but we can switch to your preferred software at any time. We will use the first lesson to discuss your background, interests, and motivations in order to develop a course structure that is tailored to your needs.

Hey there! My name is Yorgos and I am a guitar performer and instructor. Originating from Greece I embarked on musical journey to the Netherlands because of its reach musical scene. For the past eleven years I have been pursuing my musical career in the city of Rotterdam and have been teaching in various musical styles and ages. At the age of fourteen, I picked up a guitar, and two decades later, it feels like an extension of my soul. With over twenty years of experience strumming and shaping melodies, I’ve spent eleven of those years sharing my passion as a private instructor and performer. My musical journey has led me to teach a diverse range of students—from seven-year-olds to adults—covering everything from the pop and blues to the soulful depths of rock, jazz, funk, and folk. During my studies at the Royal Conservatory I learned the how work with the basics of the Kodaly solmisation system and In addition I taught ensemble lessons at the International School of The Hague. Further on, I got the opportunity to develop my knowledge on music theory, and gained experience with rhythmic, melodic solfège and sightreading. These are topics I always like to include in my lessons, because I find them very important not only for the personal growth of each musician, but also for the deeper connection they create between the musician and the instrument. Finally, even though I like incorporating all the elements mentioned above into my lessons I foremost focus on tailoring the lessons around the needs of every student and helping in any way I can their growth of musical curiosity. This class is designed for GCSE and A-Level music students eager to develop their composition skills in line with exam requirements. With a focus on originality and creativity, we will explore compositional techniques, musical structures, and stylistic understanding across a variety of genres. Each session will offer practical exercises and guided tasks tailored to exam criteria, encouraging students to build confidence and express their unique musical voice. Through regular feedback, constructive discussions, and assignment of relevant exercises between lessons, students will gain a deeper understanding of music theory, harmony, and instrumentation to enhance their compositions. My goal is to challenge students to think independently and to prepare them thoroughly for the composition components of their music exams, all within a supportive and engaging online environment.

And if the students wish, I can help them to prepare for the ABRSM exams and competitions as well. All this is aiming to achieve in a very practical and exciting experience the best results in the fastest way possible. But if the profile and the interests of the students goes on another way, I will give them all the tools they need to understand the language of music in depth, so they can find their own voice on the instrument. In that case the lessons will include contents of piano technique, score reading, applied harmony on the keyboard, composition, improvisation, musical arrangement, music production, recording techniques, jazz and pop music analysis and performance. Both programs can be combined depending on the focus and the profile of the student, or in case the student would like to go deeper in one of the previously mentioned subjects there is the opportunity to take an independent course of specialization on the desired topic. At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician. The needs of each student may vary the methodology, the way of organizing the study sessions, etc. - Once we know what we want to achieve and by when, classes will begin in a relaxed atmosphere. Relaxed does not equal lax! only that we will try to resort to dynamic and as practical methods as possible, especially given my character and sense of humor ;). - Something important to highlight is that I always place special emphasis on the development of hearing, musicality and the analysis of your references. Above all so that you can then make your own aesthetic decisions and feel like owner of your music. - Last but not least, my tendency will be to give equal importance to different music. We will adapt to your tastes and needs, but here there is no room to say which music is better or worse. Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example.
