Hello All ! My name is Mario. I am a pianist, composer, producer based in Bruxelles . I have a long experience as a Jazz pianist, keyboardist and arranger and I played in a lot of different bands . In the last ten years I spent a lot of time producing electronic music and I developed my solo and other projects as a mix of jazz, electronic and neoclassical music. I have a master degree in Live Electronics took a the Antwerp Conservatory. I decided to create this course where we can explore together the basics of music production using Ableton Live suite as a reference software. Electronic music production is a way of expressing ideas and stories beyond just the realms of a musical instrument. As a jazz trained piano player, band member, composer and producer, I've had the pleasure of performing my works across Europe to crowds of all sizes, age ranges, and tastes. With six years of self taught production and industry knowledge under my belt, I've been fortunate enough to play clubs, festivals, and international shows with my music, and have released music on a wide expanse of award winning electronic labels, such as Low Down Deep, Billegal Beats, Kingdom Audio, in the Lab Recordings, and more. Composing your own music has always been a very rewarding task. This has never been so true as the present day when you can hear what you compose instantly by using computers to generate and play back your own music. However, to ensure that your music sounds really great there are many principles to be considered. I have had a great interest in composing for over 40 years, composing in a wide variety of styles. Having been a music teacher in a comprehensive school for over 30 years, I have had a lot of very relevant experience in teaching composition to a wide range of different ages and abilities. The class will be personalized to your particular standard and chosen style of composition. If you are a complete novice and have not used computers to create music we can use a web-based programme or a free downloadable programme. On the other hand, if you are familiar with a particular programme that you have installed on your computer we can work through screen sharing and sound sharing to enhance your compositions using my experience. I will tailor-make the class to suit you.

In this course, I'm going to share with you my some of the composition techniques that I know. Also, at the class we are going to hear music of different composers and discuss it and then write our own music. This course is for all levels, you can start from the beginning or improve your existing knowledge in Composition.

Since 2021 I have been a private bass tutor, teaching face to face and online. I can help you build a strong foundation for any musical genre. Most of my students pursue bass as a hobby or a creative outlet, writing songs or performing in bands. I have also helped players prepare for Trinity Rock & Pop or GCSE exams. I provide written notes and video material and can help you organize your practice time. I set aside 30 minutes of prep time per lesson, which can also be used to transcribe and film tutorials for songs of your choice. I encourage all my students to apply the skills they learn in their own personal way. You will get enjoy what you learn very soon. Your lessons will be simple and practical, with a healthy mix of technique, knowledge and repertoire, along with the basic music theory you need to get by.
