PRIVATE COURSES in mathematics, chemistry and / or physics

I have to start by admitting something to you: in high school, I had very bad grades in math. I spent a long time telling myself that a scientific career was not for me. When I decided to try engineering anyway, I had to relearn everything from scratch, by myself. At the beginning I would have been quite incapable of passing a second humanity level exam. Months of hard, self-taught work pushed me to develop a working method focused on deep understanding of a subject rather than just withholding information. Through this private lesson project I dream of being the person I would have needed a few years ago, a person who in addition to allowing the student to succeed, transmits the motivation to learn. "If you give a man a fish, you feed him once. If you teach him to fish, he will eat all his life."

I am currently a full-time teaching assistant in chemistry at UCLouvain for science, bioengineering and management engineering students for 6 years. I also hold the aggregation of upper secondary education. I teach individuals in chemistry by adapting as best as possible to your level by starting as much as possible from the basics which often pose the most problems. I take pleasure in trying to make this subject more understandable, which, it must be admitted, is rather unique and complex. I also try to make chemistry concepts more perceptible using concrete examples of their usefulness. I usually work in two-hour lessons with a break in the middle and provide additional exercises to do at home to optimize learning. I teach classes in English or French. As a civil engineering student, I can help you with any subject in math, physics and even chemistry. Lessons can be done at my home, at your home, or even by webcam.

I obviously base myself on the student's course to explain the points of the subject that pose a problem, and to do exercises at an appropriate level. But I also try to adapt to the student to allow him to progress as best as possible.

As a student I know how difficult it is sometimes to learn and assimilate subjects. My first student was a family friend whom I helped in high school in subjects such as math and science. She had a lot of difficulties and failures and it turns out that following my lessons which lasted two months and the entire duration of her exam session during which I followed and supported her, she came out with a report card without failures and a very large positive difference in marks compared to her last. Since then, I have had the opportunity to help several students in their journey from the first secondary to the first year of university.
