Introduction to Sociology - decoding the dynamics of social life!

Sociology is a vast field of study. In the class introduction to sociology, I shall teach about the social forces like religion, gender, class, ethnicity and so on that shape our society and us(as individuals). It will be a very interactive class involving lots of discussions and debates about sociological paradigms and ideas.

For beginners it will introduce you to history of sociology(how did this field emerge in academia?), classical sociology theories and concepts. it will also cover important sociologists, their field of work and critiques. You might like some sociology scholars, find some of their ideas/arguments not relevant or even unacceptable, this class is the platform to learn, discuss and critique!

For intermediate learners, the class will cover more of current debates and recent research developments in sociology; traditional subjects such as class, culture, families/kinship, and religion. My favorite topic is Magic, religion and science and classes on that will be pretty interesting! We shall decode Bronislaw Malinowski's essays together!

For Advance learners, this class will be more of a support system through which they can clarify doubts and have solid discussions about about progressive areas like digital society, social media, migration, and the interconnectedness of modern global society. Lots of ethnographic case studies. if you are interested to learn about the caste system in India, do take up my class as we shall have pretty interesting conversations about it. We can also deal with questions like how to make a living out of sociology?

About Me

Hey, I am Ragamalika B.A(Research) Sociology with a double minor in History and Dance from Shiv Nadar university, India. I have completed a diploma course in International Relations and I am currently a Masters Student at London School of Economics and Political Science. I study International Social and Public Policy. I have prior teaching experience and I clearly know how not to make someone feel bored while listening to lectures (I hate boring lectures myself:). Studying enough about social forces that makes the society function as it is, I also don't believe in structural training or teaching methods. There will be plenty of article and books that I shall cover and refer to take my lessons and kick start discussions but no strict or cliché methodology will be followed. Classes will be interesting not cliché!

SOCIOLOGY / PSYCHOLOGY / ENGLISH LITERATURE LESSONS AND EXAM PREPERATION FOR GCSE AND A LEVEL STUDENTS
Welcome to my lessons for tutoring! In my classes, I emphasise knowledge analysis and improvement across English Literature / Sociology / Psychology. My method emphasises personalised guidance that is tailored to the needs of each student. I assist with teaching the appropriate content and exam strategies that students need to get the best grades possible. In Sociology, I do exam practice and go over topics. Sociology is the study of human social life and you can expect to cover topics such as work, families, gender roles, multiculturalism, media and culture and globalisation. During my lessons, I will elaborate on these topics and allow you to understand and feel confident within this subject. In Psychology, I will teach students key theories and behaviours of humans. During my lessons I will compare psychological theories to real life durations and I will explain this in a deeper level to help students. In English literature, through a more in-depth analysis of context, I help students become more proficient writers, which helps them feel more comfortable with the topic. I like to give tasks to my students after class to make sure they feel secure and fully comprehend what they are learning. My intention is for my pupils to feel enthusiastic and confident about studying these subjects both during and after my classes, since this will benefit them both academically and in real-world scenarios. I'm hoping you'll come along for a supportive experience with me!

Hi! My name is Ali, a 4th year medical student with an overflowing passion for life sciences, biology and physiology. My academic background has allowed me to dive deep into these fascinating disciplines, and I have been fortunate to share this passion by teaching various students. Whether in the final year of high school, in the undergraduate program or even in private lessons for middle school students, I have helped learners demystify complex concepts in physiology, biophysics, immunology and biology. Nothing motivates me more than seeing a student overcome a challenge and understand a subject that seemed insurmountable. That spark of understanding is what I aim to provoke in each person I coach. Thanks to my varied experience with students of different ages and levels – from elementary school to university students preparing for competitions such as the LASS – I have refined a flexible teaching method adapted to each individual. Whether it is to explain concepts in depth, analyze errors in exercises, or mix the two, I am here to respond precisely to your needs.
