Computer Science and Maths lessons for pupils in Y7-Y13

This course is focused around the AQA syllabus for GCSE Maths students- though it will helpful for any intermediate level student. The classes will use the CGP Exam Practice Workbooks as a guide but will be tailored towards whatever areas or concepts my students need to work on, or are curious to learn more about. Rather than just 'talking at' my students, I want to make sure they are involved- and I believe the best way to do that is working through questions together. I am a recent graduate of the University of Manchester, with a degree in Physics with Philosophy.

Math is a very important subject that will be useful in other subjects in the future. My sessions will depend upon age group and year group, but they will mostly consist of some maths activities and games, as well as quizzes, and of course the main teaching. Sessions are also open to interpretation, if there is something a student has been learning in class and needs some help with, this is possible!

As a Gap Year Student, I offer a tutoring experience that provides a refreshingly different perspective to that provided by a teacher in the classroom. As the eldest sibling of five, I am confident in my ability to connect with a child. I fundamentally believe that academic achievement is not only represented by top marks but also by a true, deep understanding that allows items of knowledge to become skills, methods and patterns of thought that can be taken further and will benefit a student all of their life. Being qualified in Chemistry, I have worked as a teacher/tutor for 15 years now. I have worked at ' The City of Liverpool College' , where I taught Chemistry to adults ( 20-55 year olds). My method is VERY SIMPLE: 1. I design a cartoon that explains a lesson with one or two examples of the practical usefulness of said lesson in everyday life. 2. I discuss with the learner to encourage him to find other examples. 3. We do simple exercises but I leave him some homework, he can contact me 24/7 if he has a problem. With me, students can easily make the connection between what they are taught and everyday life. The courses are reserved for students from preparatory course to third grade.
