Hello! I am Andrés and I have a degree in Classical Philology. I teach Latin and ancient Greek classes, at all levels, both for school reinforcement and if you want to learn these two languages for pleasure. I like to teach these subjects based on new methodologies that make learning them more enjoyable and pleasant for the student. In addition, I like to complement the teaching of these languages with culture and history classes, since it is very important to know the context in which we move in each class. Anyway, I adapt to the needs of each student. I am a native speaker of Greek. I graduated from a Greek high school and, later, the University of Athens where I attended courses in pedagogics, psychology, and linguistics. During our lessons, I'll help you develop your skills (oral/written, and not only). I'll also try to help you improve your pronunciation and spelling. I assign homework and after I receive it, correct it thoroughly additionally providing a lot of remarks/examples if they are necessary. I worked at a language center between 2009-2016 where I was a director of studies and taught mainly English as a foreign/second language. Since 2005, when I first started teaching Greek, I have taught children and adults on a variety of language proficiency levels, mainly individually. I constantly seek progress, meaning that I study further through reading books/articles concerning didactics/methodology and learning difficulties (chiefly dyslexia), observing other teachers as well as attending seminars (online or face-to-face). During my lessons I use : - Skype/Whatsapp/Messenger to connect with you, - Google Docs to keep notes, which you can check at any time and they are yours to keep, - sketch board me to make mind maps to show connections between ideas, etc. - books, PPP, word docs, diagrams, pics, etc. - pronunciation/spelling/grammar games, - authentic materials were taken from websites. I adore my profession and desire each and every one of my students be satisfied with the lesson. That's why I make sure the atmosphere is stress-free and nice. I also want my lessons to be as effective and close to real-life needs as possible. Therefore, I make sure they are well-prepared, although they can be altered at any point, should such an opportunity arise. An introduction to the basic syntactic and grammatical phenomena of the ancient Greek language. We use texts from the ancient Greek Literature (Ancient Greek History, Tragedies and Myths) as well as the Bible or Byzantine Hymnology in order to better understand the structure and way of thinking of the Greek language. The course is addressed to anyone who either has or doesn't have a knowledge of the Greek language. It is built as a personalized course, based on each student's level, motivation and learning needs.

Having the longest documented history of any Indo-European language, the Greek language holds a very important place in the history of the Western World. As a native speaker of Greek and holding a BA in History and Archaeology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as an MA and a PhD in Classical Archaeology from the same University, I am ready to help you learn Greek effectively and pleasantly. I have several years of experience tutoring students of different age groups in Latin and Ancient Greek. I am deeply passionate about these languages and I enjoy helping students improving at them. I believe that understanding the structure of a sentence is fundamental when approaching these languages, therefore this is an important focus for me. During the class I always dedicate some time to reasoning and translating sentences together with the student. I have a BS in pharmaceutical biotechnology and I am currently a master student in Medicine. I find biology very fascinating and I have been tutoring it for years now. Depending on the topic and the student's needs, I structure the lessons differently. I usually explain the topic and use tools such as spaced repetition, notes, conceptual maps to make sure that the student has understood.

FORGET YOUR DICTIONARY By doing so, you will memorize vocabulary and grammatical structures much more easily than with the classic method based essentially on translation. You will no longer spend your life in the dictionary, and eventually, you will read your favorite authors like an open book! LATIN I essentially offer a living Latin course based on the Orberg method, acclaimed by thousands of Latinists around the world. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced, I can accompany you on the chapters corresponding to your level of Familia Romana (first volume) or Roma Aeterna (second volume). It is therefore important that you get this book. If you want to work on Familia Romana, I also highly recommend that you purchase the Vivarium Novum workbook to consolidate your learning: volume I for chapters I to XIX, volume II for chapters XX to XXXIV. GREEK For Greek, we will use the Logos method. It will be up to the student to obtain a copy of this manual. A LA CARTE COURSES However, I am attentive to pupils and students who are waiting for more conventional methods, particularly in the context of preparing for the baccalaureate, the competitive examinations for the grandes écoles, or even the agrégation. Version, theme, explanation of an old text: all these exercises are well known to me for having practiced them for many years.
