I have 30 years of experience playing chess, I am a candidate master of Latvia, having an international (FIDE) rating of 2088, and an English Chess Federation rating of 2145, which is quite a good level. I am especially good at blitz and rapid. My greatest achievement is 1st place in English Open Women & Girls Rapid Championship in 2019. I have around 10 years of experience teaching chess to juniors and adults. I have been tutoring many students across the UK and have helped them to progress in chess and some of them gained great achievements in the tournaments and were qualified for the next competitions. Chess is a fun game that starts with the basic rules and moves through the 3 parts of the game: the opening, the middlegame, and the endgame. The focus at first is to teach you how the pieces move, what the goal of the opening is, and how the pieces interact. You will also learn the vocabulary related to chess and chess notation. Tactics are then explored to take advantage of hanging pieces, lack of king safety, space, and tempo. From here depending on what your personal goals are we will adapt the classes to cover what will help you progress. Here are the 3 phases of play that we will study through exercises where I will accompany the student towards the answer. -Opening: We will see the key principles to know to develop properly, as well as adapted recommendations on game theory. -Mid-game: Work from tactical exercises to refine intuition, improve calculation power and stimulate creativity. We will also explore strategy and the art of designing an effective plan. -Endgame: Learning basic checkmates, fundamental endgame concepts, and endgame pawn structures. Finally, I will analyze the student's games and then offer them suitable exercises, a kind of homework that will allow them to progress even when I'm not there!
