You will learn vocal technique to apply to songs in Spanish and English. We will work on breathing, vocalization and vocal coaching applied in songs. As a singer with over 12 years of experience in music, including a masters in popular music performance I am a versatile singer specialising in contemporary music with interests in other genres such as musical theatre and jazz. Both within and outside of university, I have had the opportunity to perform in various contexts, from competitve music festivals to gigs and have won awards such as 'Young Musician of the Year' for my annual school music festival. My recommendation for learning the Oud is to begin by studying musical notes and notation before delving into songs. While some students prefer to jump straight into playing songs, understanding the fundamentals of music notation accelerates progress in the long run. Dedication and hard work can yield significant progress within a year, enabling you to play simple tunes. However, if you lack a passion for music or the instrument itself, I advise against pursuing it. As a friendly and passionate teacher, I derive joy from witnessing my students' progress and enjoy playing duets with them.
