Learn the clarinet in a fun way through folk music, klezmer repertoire and improvisation

In the classes we will address the different elements that make up music in different styles, knowing the particular language of each one. To do this, we will work on the different tools that we have with each instrument at the level at which each one is. We all know music but many times they make us believe that no, that it is necessary to know how to read and write. That is the graphic part of the language that we will learn little by little, music is a compendium of many other things. Some that we already know and others to know. We will study the use of the keys and the positions of the clarinet, or the sax, the best way to position ourselves whether we play standing or sitting, the most efficient way to use the air, the diaphragm, the muscles. We will learn to form a good embouchure and we will develop a study method adapted to each one, according to their tastes, possibilities and interests. I work with boys and girls from different parts of the world as well as with adults and the elderly. In my experience I learned that, truly, the greatest limitation that we find ourselves is the very feeling of not being able, of believing that we cannot. The support of a dedicated teacher is essential to get out of those places where we accidentally enter and that sometimes limit us. We all feel that sometime. It is time for us to remedy it. Over time, I've developed a pleasant and effective method. I also teach the Alexander Technique, a very effective tool for learning to play with minimal effort. Hi there! My name is Tess and I am an Australian/American Clarinettist currently studying my Master in Clarinet at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles but I live in Antwerp. I have been playing Clarinet for 15 years and have my Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Melbourne Conservatorium in Melbourne, Australia, and my Cycle Préparatoire à l’Enseignement Supérieur (CPES) from the Conservatoire de Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France. I love teaching and I want to make teaching students a part of my developing professional career. I have had the privilege of teaching Clarinet students both at a private music school and a Primary/High School both in Australia. I have taught students primarily between the ages of 8 to 17 but I have taught mature age students as well! I am very flexible with where I teach and I have experience teaching students online too due to the Pandemic which makes me very flexible and workable with your schedule.
